Starting Line singer unveils Person L

With his band on hiatus, Kenneth Vasoli of The Starting Line has unveiled his new project, Person L. The band describes its influences as Radiohead, Drive Like Jehu, Fugazi, Jim O’Rourke, Battles, Kill Sadie, Owen, Broken Social Scene, Cursive, Sunny Day Real Estate, At the Drive-In and many more.

The band will release its debut album, Initial, on August 5th via Vasoli’s own imprint, Human Interest. The band – which features Vasoli on lead guitar and vocals, Ryan Zimmaro and Brian Medlin on drums and percussion, Charles Schnieder on bass and Nathaniel Vaeth on Rhodes piano and guitar – will be the direct support for Anthony Green (Circa Survive) on his upcoming tour.

Hot Water MusicThere seemed to be a consensus that it was only a matter of time before Hot Water Music fans would be able to see the Gainesville-born band playing together again. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the band broke their hiatus and started playing small strings of shows. They’ve been keeping things going at a rather relaxed pace while keeping busy with side projects (The Draft as well as solo output from Chuck Ragan and Chris Wollard).

Riot Fest with Bosstones, ALL, Leftover Crack, TSOL, Ergs, Reagan Youth, Paint It Black

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones The first round of Riot Fest 2008 confirmations have come out. The bill will be headlining by “The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, ALL, The Casualties and feature Leftover Crack, TSOL, Municipal Waste, Anti-Nowhere League, Teenage Bottlerocket, Mustard Plug, Big Drill Car, Paint It Black, Valiant Thorr, Reagan Youth and many more.

Bear in mind that this is the first batch and many, many more bands are expected to be confirmed soon. The promoters have promised some high profile additions are expected very soon. The event is set for October 10-12 in Chicago, Illinois. The three-day event will take place in several venues across Chicago, including the Congress Theatre (October 12), House of Blues (October 10), Double Door and Cobra Lounge (October 10 and 11).
