Underoath have revealed the artwork and track listing for their upcoming full length. As well, clips of each of the 11 songs can now be streamed here.
The record is titled Lost In The Sound Of Separation and is due out September 02, 2008. It is the follow-up to Define the Great Line which was released in 2006.
We’ve got a full album stream of the new record from Leeds, UK-based Forward Russia. The record is titled Life Processes and was released last month via Cooking Vinyl. The album has roots both in American hardcore and post punk outfits like XTC and even Bloc Party.
Los Angeles-based hardcore outfit Terror are currently on a huge US tour in support of their third full-length release, The Damned, The Shamed, which just hit stores via Century Media. We were able to get Scott Vogel to start keeping a tour journal which we will be publishing here on Punknews.org.
As the press machine revs up for his upcoming album, Ben Folds has confessed to leaking a number of new tracks, but not the real ones. He spoke to Rolling Stone, explaining:
Only the songs weren’t real – he spent eight hours recording “fake” versions of six tracks during a late-night Dublin, Ireland session in early July, then let friends work their magic on the Web. Folds says the group rented studio time with nine joke songs in eight hours as the goal.
Ben also discussed the new album, and some the inspirations behind the songs themselves. You can check out the entire interview here.
Brand New has posted an update on their plans for the rest of 2008. According to the group, the band will be wrapping up touring in September and will begin recording in the fall:
For those of you who have been asking, BN will not be doing any other club shows in 2008 (other than the ones that are currently listed). There may be one or two more college shows. Recording is first on the list right now…
I think they’ve lost the plot. What are they doing? Where are they going? What’s happening? I don’t get it any more. They lost me. I still appreciate what they’re doing, or what they’re trying to do. But I think they’re trying too hard not to be Radiohead. That seems a little ridiculous to me. I like them as a rock band, all the buttons and sequencing and stuff like that I don’t really care for. I’m a fan of rock music and what they’re doing now I don’t think is very good.
Legendary musician Billy Bragg dropped by the Spinner studios to deliver an interview and a live performance. When asked about his most memorable collaboration, he recounts his work with three terminally ill women near his hometown of Dorset, England. Bragg also to spit a little venom describing Prince Charles as “a fucking jerk.”
San Francisco’s Joey Cape, frontman for Lagwagon, has posted a new track titled “No Little Pill” from his upcoming full length Bridge. The album will be released in October via Suburban Home. Cape released some more details in a blog post.
Gallows have posted a new song in advance of their highly anticipated sophomore full length. The band will record with producer GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Melvins) beginning in September. A worldwide release is expected in February of 2009.
Rocket From The Crypt have detailed their third All Systems Go release. The series compiles the band’s rarities and will be released August 28, 2008 through Swami and Vagrant. It is comprised of 20 “Lost Masters” recorded on 8-track in the band’s practice space between 1997-2000, most of them previously unreleased and available for the first time ever. It includes contributions from original RFTC drummer Atom Willard as well as Chris Prescott and Ton DiPrima, both of whom filled in after Atom left the group. According to Reis:
According to frontman John Reis aka Speedo:
It’s violent, aggressive and thuggish stuff and to me sounds much better now in retrospect than when we originally were recording these demos. I am really psyched about it. Thematically, musically, etc it’s all very period to an undocumented part of the bands history. I hope you take it for what it is and enjoy it on that level. I really believe if the band was still around, we would make a record at least sonically sonically similar to ASG 3.
A fourth and final installment in the ASG series is also in the works and will be a CD/DVD release.
We had been signed to our record contract for 9 years. Basically, under California law, where we live and signed our deal, one cannot be bound to a contract for more than 7 years. […] It is a law that protects people from lengthy, unfair, career-spanning contracts. […] We have been sued because roughly 45 days ago we exercised our legal right to terminate our old, out of date contract, which, according to the law is null and void.
If you think the fact that we have sold in excess of 2 million records and have never been paid a penny is pretty unbelievable, well, so do we. And the fact that EMI informed us that not only aren’t they going to pay us AT ALL but that we are still 1.4 million dollars in debt to them is even crazier.
We have lost many of the people that were near and dear to us at Virgin/EMI and crucial to the success of 30 Seconds to Mars. There is not a single employee at Virgin Records who was working at the company when we signed.
Chicago, IL’s Rise Against have posted a song titled “ReEducation (Through Labor)” on their MySpace page. It is the first single from their album Appeal to Reason, set for release on October 07, 2008 via Geffen.
