Tours: Where We Stand (original Yellowcard lineup)

The original lineup of Florida pop punk act Yellowcard will be performing together this September under the name Where We Stand. The band, named after Yellowcard’s 1999 released sophomore album of the same name, previously got together this May for a performance that celebrated the reissue of their debut full length Midget Tossing. The band’s line up features Ben Harper, Warren Cooke, Todd Clary, Longineu Parsons and Ben Dobson.

The modern day incarnation of Yellowcard is on an indefinite hiatus. They released Paper Walls in 2007.

Paramore writing, plans studio time in January

Paramore recently spoke to Billboard about their forthcoming full length and follow up to their breakthrough album, Riot!. According to songwriter and guitarist Josh Farro:

[We have] anywhere from seven to 10 songs … they’re not complete, but they’re really good ideas I think we have a good chance of using. It’s mainly just music that I’ve written and Hayley (Williams, Paramore’s singer) has some lyrics and melodies. She’s kind of just waiting on me to finish my musical ideas before I can give them to her. It’s a slow process”

Farro says he expects the group to start recording its third album in the studio by January and have the album out by mid-2009

SNFU reforms, touring Canada this fall

Canadian punk legends SNFU has been resurrected, after a fashion. The band now consists of vocalist Mr. Chi Pig with guitarist Ken “Goonie” Flemming (the Unwanted / Econonline Crush / Dog Eat Dogma / one time SNFU bassist in the 90s), bassist Just Denis (Dog Eat Dogma / Smoked Oysters / Fake it Big Time) and drummer Chad Mareels (Black Donnellys / Nasty On / Dog Eat Dogma).

The band’s previous incarnation called it quits in 2005. Chi however wasn’t quite ready to let things go and performed a number of shows under the name “asSNFU.” While the band is back using the proper SNFU name, it doesn’t look like founding guitarists Brent and Marc Belke have anything to do with the new run.

Tour dates have been announced starting this September. They will see the band hopping north for a couple of dates in the Yukon, followed by performances from Vancouver through Quebec.

SNFU (originally an acronym for Society’s No Fucking Use) formed in Edmonton, Alberta in 1982. The band was initially comprised of vocalist Mr. Chi Pig, guitarists Brent and Marc Belke, bassist Warren Bidlock and drummer Evan “Tadpole” Jones. Over the next decade their rhythm section shifted from album to album, with over 17 people having played in the band at one time or another. The band released albums on BYO, Cargo, Epitaph, Alternative Tentacles and their own label Rake Records.

Tours: Leathermouth (My Chemical Romance)

Leathermouth, the rock’n’roll/hardcore project from My Chemical Romance‘s Frank Iero, will be the road next month. In related news, the band recently confirmed that they would be releasing their full length debut in the fall:

The Leathermouth record will absolutely see the light of day this fall. I don’t have a release date just yet, however I can say that we’ve met with labels and are in the process of signing with the one we are very very happy with, I won’t say who just yet because I don’t want to count our chicken eggs before they crack open and give birth to reptiles.
