Billy Talent writing for next album

Toronto-based Billy Talent have begun work on their forthcoming full length. The popular Canadian band explained:

The summer is half over and things with Billy Talent are as busy as ever. We just got home from a two and a half week tour through Europe. We played Moscow and Warsaw, which was a first for us and we were blown away from the response. The tour ended with us doing the massive Hurricane/Southside festivals and then a show in Prague with our friends in Anti-Flag. Right after that we headed to Quebec and P.E.I. to officially end touring of II. We ended up flying on 12 planes in 18 days!!

We took about a week off and now we’re fully into writing mode. We’re having a blast with our new creations and looking forward to getting into the studio to begin recording. I guess all of you would have heard “Turn Your Back” which we played everyday on the last tour. It was up on YouTube about 24 hours after we first played it live.

The band’s last studio album, Billy Talent II, dropped in 2006.

Klaus Flouride leaves Dead Kennedys

Founding Dead Kennedys bassist has announced his departure from the legendary punk pioneers after more than thirty years. Due to a reoccurring medical condition, Klaus Flouride has decided that the rigors of touring and the demands of the band were the determining factors in making this difficult decision.

Flouride will continue to perform regionally with bands like The American Professionals, The Go Going Gone Girls Band and The Legendary Stardust Cowboy among others but full touring is no longer possible.

Flouride said:

Over the past thirty years, I have had the great fortune to have been a founding member of Dead Kennedys, It’s been tough at times but particularly rewarding working and collaborating with men like Biafra, 6025, D.H., Brandon, Jeff, Ted, Dave, Steve, Skip and especially Ray. However a recurring medical condition called Angioedema has caused me to make the difficult decision to begin withdraw from the road and as a touring member of Dead Kennedys. Thus I have taken my leave as a performing member of the band for the foreseeable future.

Video of the Week: Feature: Hot Water Music

Hot Water MusicLast month, we caught up with recently reunited Hot Water Music in the city of bro-therly love. The band has been playing a string of shows since reforming last year.

In the first installment of this feature, the band discusses song selection for the shows from a catalog of 100+ to choose from, their first practice in three years, and guitarist/vocalist Chuck Ragan‘s thoughts on rejoining the other members that had been playing together in The Draft together since HWM’s separation in 2005. Additionally, we’d like to give special thanks to Rob Huddleston, frontman for Ann Beretta and Foundation (along with bass duties for Inquisition) for playing the role of interviewer.
