Jolie Holland is setting out on tour this October in support of her upcoming album The Living and the Dead. Holland recorded the album with the aid of M. Ward (My Morning Jacket, She & Him) and Marc Ribot (Elvis Costello, Tom Waits) and is reportedly featuring a more “rock and roll” sound.

Receiving such an honor in the United Kingdom means so much to us because England has become like a second home. This summer has been the best of our career. Chuck Ragan has uploaded a cover of The Loved Ones track “Pretty Good Year” to his MySpace page. The track appears to come from the as-yet-unannounced Give and Take split 7″ between the bands.

According to the article “rock music” is experiencing a halo effect wherein young people who are exposed to new-to-them bands via rhythm games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band are then seeking out these bands’ actually albums and releases. According to Billboard when Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was released there was a “40 Percent” jump in their catalog sales.
The article interviews Lars Ulrich of Metallica, whose Death Magnetic will be playing in GH, and his son. You may remember Ulrich for his earlier, outspoken rants against digital media and sharing services like Napster even though now Metallica’s new single is both streaming at MySpace and is available on iTunes.

Engine Down has laid out the contents of their upcoming DVD From Beginning To End. The film follows the band’s career from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, through nine years of international tours and through their final tour.
The DVD features their entire last show, will feature rare and unreleased tracks alongside home movies, music videos and more.
Off With Their Heads just rocked San Francisco last night at the Knockout and we realized that we hadn’t posted their West Coast dates. Joining them on this outing is BYO’s Nothington, who have been playing some new songs while out.
After their West Coast journey, OWTH will be heading to Europe.
Jacksonville’s Red Jumpsuit Apparatus are heading into the studio with Howard Benson (Less Than Jake, Hoobastank, Daughtry) to record the followup to Don’t You Fake It.
Glenn Danzig recently unveiled some plans for the future. The former Misfits fromtman will take his band Danzig out on a 20th anniversary tour, celebrating the release of their 1988 self titled debut. This will be his first full US tour in three years, with dates also expected in Canada, Mexico and possibly South America. The sets on the tour are expected to start with “Skin Carver” and follow in sequence through Danzig I to III and into the present.

The Aggrolites are continuing their touring insanity after a brief one month post-Warped Tour hiatus. They’ll be heading over to Europe for a couple weeks then coming back to the States for a four night Southern California homecoming including opening acts like the new pop reggae outfit Cipes and the People, led by actor Greg Cipes (Ghost Whisperer, Deadwood). They’ll be on the East Coast in October (US and Canada) for appearances at CMJ with support from Everybody Out!, the new band featuring Rick Barton (Dropkick Murphys, the Outlets). O Pioneers!!! are heading out in anticipation of their second full-length Neon Creeps – set to be released in later this year by Asian Man Records and Kiss of Death Records. They will be touring the west coast on the way to Awesome Fest 2 and then joining The Gaslight Anthem, American Steel, and Polar Bear Club for a short trek through the southeast.
The band recently released a split 7″ with Austin’s The Anchor on Triumph of Life Records and is about to dropa split 7″ with Mike Park on Suburban Home Records.
