Among The Living, Asinine, Casting Curses, Rain Over Battle

Bay Area, CA’s Among The Living have posted a five song demo to their MySpace page page. The new band features members of Alcatraz, At Risk, Moria, and Uzi Suicide. Their first show is October 18th for Cruz Fest.

Cleveland, OH’s Asinine have called it quits after four years of playing. Bass player Kenny had this to say:

Yeah we haven’t really been doing too much lately, we have a couple shows this fall and that looks like that’ll be it…Everybody’s been so busy with school, work, and other projects that we haven’t been able to devote much time to the band…not that we every did to begin with haha. …I know that paco has a couple of different things goin on between “tarantulas attack” and another band he’s been jammin (i love that word) with. Kyle is still raggin with sscp, and as far as scottie and i go…we ain’t gettin any younger, but we are gettin prettier and we’re still makin some music with cleveland undercovers…

The band’s final release, The Shoe Logo EP, will be available at their November 17th show in Columbus with Reverse the Curse and Off With Their Heads. The other band’s mentioned can be found here, and here.

Syracuse, New York hardcore outfit Casting Curses have added several tracks from their upcoming debut Get Center to their Myspace page.The self-released album will be available in October.

Virginia Beach, VA’s Rain Over Battle have posted new songs to their MySpace page. The band previously only had a few demos up, but has opened for Tim Barry, The Gaslight Anthem, and The Loved Ones.

Metallica, Run-D.M.C, Stooges nominated for Hall of Fame

Metallica Metallica, Run D.M.C. and The Stooges are among those nominated for the upcoming 2009 induction into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame. They share the nominations with guitarist Jeff Beck, singer Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, War, Bobby Womack, and disco and R&B group Chic. This is the second nomination for the Stooges. The proto-punk pioneers were previously nominated in 2006.

The five nominees who garner the most votes will be announced in January and inducted April 4, 2009, in Cleveland. To be nominated an act must have released its first single or album 25 years prior. The ceremony has been held in New York City for the past few years, but is returning to Cleveland after more than a decade.

All-American Rejects: “Give You Hell”

All-American Rejects have posted the first single from their upcoming album. The record is titled When The World Comes Down and is due out November 18, 2008. The album will be the follow up to 2005’s Move Along.

The album follows the band’s lengthy hiatus which began in 2006. In that time, some members of the band collaborated with Ben Weasel on his latest solo album, These Ones Are Bitter.

GFK working on new record

Quebec’s GFK are working on a new full length. With the demise of the G7 Welcoming Committee it’s unknown at this time who will put it out. The band posted:

For almost a year now, GFK avoided the stage to write their next masterchief. Meanwhile, Jessy became a father, got a new job and even came to rehearse more often. Mick ‘the longest goatie ever’ Beaudoin quit smoking weed and he is now quite an expert at Guitar Hero and he is doing excellent performances playing Rock Band. Remy LeClick got engaged and has aggravate his alcohol addiction. Rick The Wolf bought new drums and received full forgiveness from his sweetheart ( he just call her La Puce !!). Claude… is still sitting in his basement wishing he’ll conquer the world with his Xbox 360. We are now at starting the whole recording processus with a few pre-productions. Everything will be done at LeClick Studio, on an indeterminated period of time and after that, we’ll be ready to start the real thing. This next album will surprise most of you with a new trash metal sound colored with breakdowns and should see the light by autumn 2009. Until then, we posted a demo song that sounds crappy because we want to make your ears bleed.

The Ergs: “Anthem for A New Amanda”

South Amboy, NJ’s The Ergs! have posted a new track from their last 7″ titled That’s it…Bye being released through Don Gionvanni Records. The band announced their break up earlier this year, and will be making an appearance at this year’s The Fest.

Tours: Rise Against / Strike Anywhere (Germany)

Strike Anywhere recently revealed some upcoming tour plans for 2009. In February of the new year the band will embark on a tour of Germany with Rise Against. Whether this is part of some larger European tour or not is undetermined. The popular punk bands will kick things off in Munich on Feburary 4th, wrapping up in Hamburg on the 13th. .

Rise Against is getting set to released Appeal to Reason on October 7th of this year. Strike Anywhere is currently supporting 2006’s Dead FM.
