Slipknot frontman blames labels for file sharing

Slipknot vocalist and frontman Corey Taylor has laid the blame for the explosion of file sharing on record labels rather than the file sharers themselves according to this Kerrang article.

Why would you blame (people who download music)? Half the fucking albums that are out there are shit. I don’t download, but at the same time, I don’t buy new music ’cause it all sucks. Okay, there’s a handful of bands that I buy, but other than that, I just buy old shitt because old shit is good.

I think it’s the quality of the product. If record companies would stop giving any fucking mook (idiot) on the street with a fringe a record deal or their own record label, maybe you would sell more fucking albums, dipshits.

Interviews: Liza Graves (Civet)

Civet Initially disappointed upon hearing that the Dropkick Murphys/Mighty Mighty Bosstones show in Portland, ME had been moved from the local minor league baseball field to the far less summer-y local hockey arena, my father and I (Kevin Finn) decided to head in early, take advantage of the GA seating and get our old bones in some seats as close to the stage as possible. Smart move on out part, as it meant we got there in time to get an up close view of the firestorm of a set by Civet, a California foursome that conjures up images of a streetpunk Runaways.

The band’s third record (and first on Hellcat), Hell Hath No Fury, dropped on September 9th and frontwoman Ms. Liza Graves was kind enough to answer some questions for me.

The Swellers post update on new lineup, new album

The Swellers The Swellers have sent us an update on their new lineup, and plans for their next record:

In March of this year, Nick and I were given a 2-months notice by our guitarist Garrett saying he was leaving the band. When our bassist found out, he decided to leave the band on the spot, giving us 7 days to find a bassist to fill in on all of our upcoming tours. The same day we got that call, Ryan Collins (guitarist of Alucard) jumped in to save the day. Ryan learned all of our songs in a week, packed up his life and has been with us on the road with us ever since. When the time came, Ryan switched from fill-in bassist to our full-time guitarist. Still leaving us in need of a bassist.

Once Garrett left before our 3 week Canadian tour in June, we decided to recruit one of our best friends, Brad Linden, as our bassist. After the tour, things started to fall into place. Brad sold his guitar equipment for bass gear, dropped out of college in his final year, and made the decision to join The Swellers full-time.

We’re busy writing our next record which will be out next year. Not sure what month or what label, but we’re very stoked on it already.

The band released My Everest last year.
