Millencolin talk downloads, their career
Long-running Swedish punk act Millencolin recently sat down with The Intricate Industries Podcast to shed some light on their view of downloading, their career and more:
I don’t like the downloading thing at all, it’s my music why should you get it for free. It’s terrible, the technology got out of hand before people knew how to deal with it, so it’s just sad. I Like records too, I like CD’s, I like to buy music. I have thousand’s of CD’s and I love it but for alot of kids now they have an ipod or mp3 player with 5000 songs and I don’t like that.
It takes the heart and the soul out of music in a way….When I started off the whole thing was so cool with punk rock. You couldn’t find a Bad Religion album in the store you had to get it….It was worth so much more.
You can check out the podcast here.
The band is touring South America and Europe in support of their new album, Machine 15.

Liferuiner (2004-2008)
Canadian hardcore act Liferuiner has called it a day. The band, who famously were caught in an anti-graffiti sting, made the following statement:
We will be playing our last show ever on Saturday November 1st at the Grease pit in Milford, CT. The European tour has been amazing and as a band, we agreed to end things on a high note today after our show in France.
We apologize to anyone who was involved or planning on coming out to the Salt The Wound tour. We will most likely release our new material at some point via Uprising Records, for those interested.
Fall Out Boy album delayed
Fall Out Boy has announced that they will no longer be releasing their new album, Folie à Deux, on November 4, 2008. The band explained:
Six months ago we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on election day but this is not the election to be cute. This is the most important election of our time and, as much as the record is a social commentary and the term “folie a deux” is relevant to the candidates, we felt as though rather than making a commentary we were only riding the wave of the election. This seemed less and less like what we intended to do and more of a gimmick.
While we have all individually expressed our positions on the candidates that we support we feel that many of the interviews and press for the record have skewed us into a partisan band. While it may be obvious where we stand. We never intended to be the band that shoved our ideas down peoples throats. We only hope people look at the bigger picture and investigate the issues further on their own.
The band has been quite supportive of Senator Barack Obama, with bassist Pete Wentz hosting a fundraiser for the candidate in January of this year.

New Found Glory title Epitaph debut
New Found Glory has revealed the title for their forthcoming debut for Epitaph Records. The long-running pop-punk outfit will be releasing their next full length in February. As reported earlier, the band has been working on the new studio album with producer Mark Hoppus of Blink-182.
According to this interview, the record will be titled Not Without A Fight, a title the band also explained:
I think it just kind of goes in with the whole idea that we’ve been around for a while and we really feel like a resurgence for us that after eleven years now we’re still relevant. We’re on tours with bands like Four Year Strong, A Day to Remember and ya know, a lot of these bands maybe they first got into bands like us, and it’s almost like another generation. But it makes us feel awesome that we’re still out here and I hope that people don’t just think we’re like the old guys out there. We’re really still trying to do this and we still have so much fun every night playing not just old songs, but new songs. I think if anything you can take the “Not without a fight,” like we’re not going down without a fight, and we’re still here.
You can find the rest of the interview here.
The band most recently released Tip of the Iceberg / Takin’ It Ova!.

Elvis Costello to appear on new Fall Out Boy record
AbsolutePunk is reporting that legendary singer/songwriter Elvis Costello will make a guest appearance on the upcoming album from popular act Fall Out Boy. The band told the website that “this isn’t a typical appearance as he’s alongside the guys in a couple of the decaydance bands on the song.”
The record, titled Folie à Deux, will reportedly feature a number of guest appearances by musicians from several genres. The group recently confirmed the participation of rapper Lil Wayne and Blondie singer Debbie Harry. Expect the record on November 4th.

Travis Barker updates blog from hospital bed
Travis Barker has posted a blog detailing his recovery. The Blink-182 / Plus 44 drummer and producer was recently in a plane crash that claimed the lives of four other people. Travis commented:
Like the doctors said from the beginning, its been a slow recovery process. I am coming up on the 7th of my surgeries Monday. Today I finally was able to move all my fingers on my right hand. Every step seems huge at this point, and Im doing EVERYTHING I can possibly do to get back to my kids. Yes, I did start eating meat again, but if it helps me to be home holding my little humans sooner, then its all worth it. The staff here are all bomb! Dr. Grossman and his staff are the best… Despite any rumors you might have heard, Ive been treated amazingly well, both here in LA and in Georgia. The hospitals Ive been treated at are THE BEST… I got to see AM the other day. Seeing him after he was discharged was an inspiration. I saw just how awesome the doctors’ work here is, and got to see how well he is doing. I am so happy to see him doing well, and we are both so lucky and grateful that we are alive today.
You can read the whole blog at MySpace.

Across Five Aprils (2001-2008)
Chattanooga, TN’s Across Five Aprils are calling it quits. The band announced:
I could spend all day on here telling you why A5A is calling it quits but the simple truth is we’ve all just gotten to a point where we have chosen to move on, and we wouldn’t have changed our experience with A5A for anything in the world. A5A got to make some of our biggest dreams come true. We got to play with our favorite bands and we befriended our heroes and had the times of our lives. We have become world travelers visiting and playing in Mexico, Canada, Japan, Mainland Europe, UK, Scandinavia, and every state in the continental 48. It truly has been a wild and amazing ride. And we have gotten to write and perform music that was uncompramized and of our own convictions. We never conformed we never did anything musicaly except exactly what we chose. Thank you once again for letting us have this amazing opportunity.
While I cant take the time to tell you exactly why this is happening I can take some time and tell you what reasons are not true to dispel some common rumors that some inquiring minds will undoubtedly wish to now. We have not been dropped from VICTORY RECORDS, contrary to what the PRP reported. We are however not a CURRENT ARTIST because we have made the arrangements with VICTORY to disband. We want to thank TONY and VICTORY for their constant support in everything we did. I can also tell you we did not have a knock down drag out fight internally or with any other band. We are all still friends and will continue to stay close for the rest of our lives.
The band also announced their final tour.
