Jerry Dammers claims he was excluded from Specials reunion

On the heels of the recently announced and quickly sold-out The Specials reunion shows, comes a statement from founding member Jerry Dammers who refutes the rest of the band’s assertion that he was invited to join them. Jerry explained:

Jerry has a duty to inform anybody who may be interested of the true situation, which is that he was not invited to take part in this proposed tour, or even told about it.

He also has to say that claims that ‘the door is still open’ to him fail to mention that Jerry has been driven out every time he has attempted to get involved over the last year. He also wonders why this appears in the newspaper when former bandmates have his phone number?

Apart from the recording, Jerry wanted to try and aim for a proper reunion and 30th anniversary celebration, including [performing] the best part of both Specials albums, ‘The Ghost Town’ EP and a small amount of new material, in proper concerts, in venues worthy of the band’s status and legacy.”

Jerry sees this whole thing as a takeover, rather than a proper reunion… At the moment this is not the proud reunion and 30th anniversary celebration Jerry had hoped for.”

Propagandhi adds New Zealand dates

Propagandhitrip to Australia. The band adds:

Wait until you hear the new Propagandhi record. We are very stoked on this one! Very stoked! we are working on the art for the record as we speak. If anyone has any really good black and white photos of the band members playing live and think they would make good record photos send them on over!

In February we are heading over to Australia for the first time in 12 years! It’s going to be wild! We are also adding beautiful New Zealand to the good times! If you think you see Gollum sneaking around the mountains, I assure you that it’s just Hannah in his underwear looking for nourishment!
