Buzzcocks planning new material for 2009
News of the World has posted an update on the status of the legendary Buzzcocks. After a lengthy and interesting look at their history, the article reveals some of the band’s plans for 2009:
We’re still here trying to make real music for real people. What’s the alternative? Snow Patrol and Coldplay? They’re not rock revolutionaries – they’re Blue Peter presenters with guitars. You tend to be so busy writing, recording and playing gigs that you don’t appreciate how much impact your music is having. It wasn’t until Bruce Springsteen told me how much our music meant to him that I began to think about that stuff. It’s crucial for us to keep going forward,
After a tour where the band will perform Another Music in a Different Kitchen and Love Bites in their entirety, the band will be preparing a new LP and follow up to 2006’s Flat-Pack Philosophy.

Roxy Epoxy returns with The Rebound
Former Epoxies frontwoman Roxy Epoxy will return this March with a new band dubbed Roxy Epoxy And The Rebound. The group will release a new album on March 10th titled Band-Aids On Bullet Holes on Metropolis Records. In their press release Roxy described the band:
I think The Rebound are a bit more introspective than The Epoxies. The music is more intricate and is a bit more rock than pop. When the Epoxies broke up, I had a ton of material at different states of completion and finally had the time to dig into it. I had wanted to head in a slightly different direction for a while. This is the result.
The Rebound will hit the road in March. The Epoxies last released My New World in 2007.

Time Square Virgin Megastore to close
According to a Billboard report, the Time Square Virgin Megastore will be closing in April.
The decision to close the store appears related to real estate and the value connected to the location. That executive was quoted as saying that Virgin pays only $54 per square-foot when the market rent in the area is about $700 a square foot. So, while the store, which does an estimated $55 million in annual volume, is profitable to the tune of $6 million, according to sources, the space would be even more profitable for its owner with a higher rent tenant.

Every Time I Die begin work on Epitaph debut
Every Time I Die have posted an update as they begin work on their debut album for Epitaph Records:
It’s been a while since we posted on the status of the Every Time I Die camp, but I’ll admit that it often gets overlooked since we have fallen into such a writing/recording/touring routine over the past ten years that we rarely take a step back to take personal note of the endeavors we’re undertaking. As of yesterday we have officially begun writing the new record.
Well, let me rephrase that: Jordan, Mike, Andy and Josh have begin writing and i have just attained a level 23 ranking on Call of Duty: World At War online. [We are] heading to the studio in California on April 1st.
The band released The Big Dirty in 2007.
