Bouncing Souls continue to celebrate their 20th anniversary as they tour through South America. They’ve decided to offer us some
The band is two months into a year in which they plan on releasing one song per month.
Pelican has signed to Southern Lord. They are planning a new EP shortly. The band commented on their departure from Hydrahead and other plans:
We couldn’t be more excited- the label is home to some good friends and amazing bands: Boris, Earth, Sunn0))), Wolves in the Throne Room, Burning Witch… I could seriously go on all day. Please don’t get the wrong impression, Hydrahead are still our friends and family. But after 6 years, 3 full lengths, 3 eps, 2 dvds, and a large handful of limited releases we felt like we needed a change of scenery, a chance to try some different waters.
While we were in Seattle we headed into Red Room Studios with our buddy Chris Common (These Arms Are Snakes) to record 3 new songs to be released as an EP on Southern Lord sometime around May or June. The record will feature two new songs “Embedding the Moss” and “Ephemeral” which we debuted on our last tour, as well as our first ever cover song.
The band released City of Echoes in 2007.

New Found Glory has tapped Shai Hulud to replace the recently broken up Verse. NFG guitarist (and former Shai Hulud vocalist) Chad Gilbert commented:
As most of you already know, the band Verse, who was meant to open our tour has broken up. We were excited to tour with them but that’s life. We feel it is only fair to replace them with a band from a similar genre. That way kids who listen to Verse won’t be too disappointed… plus we feel it makes for a better show to have a more diverse lineup.
The band that will replace Verse will be none other than SHAI HULUD!! For those of you that could be wondering, I might make an appearance on the mic but I cant promise or commit to anything. Shai Hulud’s singer rules anyway.
The tour kicks off in March.

After the sad death of drummer Andrew Martinez last month, Nekromantix has announced that the band will be continuing with a new drummer:
We needed someone to fill out the big shoes of Andy DeMize, who also was known as the Al Bundy of psychobilly, due to his work in a womens Shoe store when off tour. And what better person to take over drums than a drummer that play’s in Stilletto’s? Lux has a drumming background in Rock, Metal, Punk and Latin Dance music which makes her the perfect anchorman…eh woman in Nekromantix. She is known for drumming in Indie/experimental rock band “Mystery Hangup” and Thrashmetal band “Sacred Storm”.
Lux also had this to say:
We’ll be on tour this summer with U.S. and Canada dates supporting Reverend Horton Heat. Summer Tourdates are already booked and listed in the calendar section (check back for new additions) and we will be recording a new album to be released this year on Hellcat Records.
The New York Times is reporting that Sirius XM Satellite Radio is on the verge of bankruptcy. It has hired advisers to prepare for a possible bankruptcy filing.
The firm is a product of a merger of two satellite radio firms – Sirius and XM – who joined together last March. The firm then began by cutting niche programming and focusing on a more mainstream audience like the controversial replacement of punk radio with an all-AC/DC show.

While the reunion of his band, Blink-182 is currently dominating the news, co-vocalist Mark Hoppus has released a solo track recorded for the film, Fired Up. Mark explained:
A couple of months ago, I got a call from a friend of mine named Richard Gibbs. Richard scores films, and he invited me into his studio to collaborate on a song for a movie he was working on called “Fired Up.” We spent the next week working on an idea that he had, and built it into a song that’s now available on iTunes. Check it out. It’s got kind of 60’s beach party feel to it.
You can preview or purchase the song here.
