Green Day talk “21st Century Breakdown”

Green Day spoke with The USA Today about their forthcoming album. Regarding the album, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explained:

[After American Idiot] we asked how much more ambitious can we be? We could take a sideways step or go back to our roots. We chose to move forward. It’s about reflecting what’s been happening the past three years and putting it to melody with some bold statements.

Though there aren’t too many details, the article named one song, “March of the Dogs,” which apparently criticizes against religious hypocrisy..

The band has also unveiled the artwork for the album.

Benefit for Scott Russo (Unwritten Law) tonight

The San Diego House of Blues is hosting a benefit show tonight for Unwritten Law singer Scott Russo, who lost his house and posessions in a fire last Thursday. Due to the tough economy, the singer was uninsured:

I am at a complete loss for words. My entire family is now homeless, all our pets are gone and our earthly possessions have been lost. In these tough times, my family had been out of work and the financial burden was too heavy for me to afford fire insurance. The support from my friends has been overwhelming.

The just-announced benefit features Unwritten Law, Jason Mraz, Switchfoot, and Timmy Curran. Tickets ranging from $45 to $100, with all proceeds going to the Russo family. Tickets can be purchased here.
