King Khan and the Shrines announce US release for What Is?!

Berlin, Gemany’s King Khan and the Shrines have announced a US release of their 2007 album What Is?! through their US label Vice Records. The album will see the light of day across the pond on April 21, 2009. It was previously released through Germany’s Hazelwood imprint.

Ultimate Power Duo set to release “New Normal”

Ultimate Power Duo Saskatoon’s Ultimate Power Duo will release their sophomore full length New Normal on March 17th via Saved By Radio. The band recorded with producer David J. Taylor (Despistado, Sylvie, Geoff Berner), crafting a 13 track album that finds the once fairly irreverent band taking a darker turn.

X added to All Tomorrow’s Parties lineup

Legendary LA punk band X has been added to the lineup of the Breeders curated All Tomorrow’s Parties festival. The event, which will take place from May 15th to 17th at Butlins holiday resort in Minehead, UK, will also feature Gang Of Four, Deerhunter, Shellac, Holy Fuck and Teenage Fanclub among others. Turbonegro in “Rock Band 2” next week

Turbonegro has been scheduled for inclusion in Rock Band 2. Available for 160 gamer points, the band will be providing the song, “Wasted Again,” from their 2005 album, Party Animals. The song will be available for download next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 respectively.

Also scheduled for addition to the game next week are songs from White Zombie.

Westbound Train announce “Come and Get It”

Boston’s Westbound Train have announced the release of their sophomore full length. The record is titled Come and Get It and is due out April 21, 2009. It is the follow-up to Transitions which was released in 2006.

The album was recorded over the span of two weeks in Brooklyn, NY with producer and Slackers saxophonist Dave Hillyard. The band will be supporting the album two shows at the Middle East in their hometown of Boston, MA on April 24th and 25th, and also the Hurley.com stage at the 2009 Vans Warped Tour.

Narrows have released the artwork and track listing for their upcoming full length debut. The band features members of Botch, Roy, Some Girls and These Arms Are Snakes. The full length is the follow-up to Narrows [7 inch] which was released in 2008

The Unlikely Words blog has posted a link to a few different songs from Thorns of Life recorded during their set at 924 Gilman St. The band is features the influential Jawbreaker and Jets To Brazil frontman on Blake Schwarzenbach on guitar, Aaron Elliott of the Cometbus zine, Crimpshrine and Pinhead Gunpowder on drums and actress / musician Daniela Sea on bass. Sea performed in Berkeley punk rock acts the Gr’ups and Cypher In The Snow and most recently appeared on Showtime series The L Word.

Jimmy Eat World details “Clarity” vinyl reissue

Jimmy Eat World has announced the details for their vinyl reissue of Clarity. The vinyl will be available on the band’s Clarity tour, and via their online store. The disc will be pressed on 180 gram vinyl and artwork is being produced as a gatefold. The disc will include the bonus tracks “Christmas Card” and “Sweetness (demo)” and online orders will include a Clarity t-shirt.

The band is celebrating the 10th anniversary of their fan favorite album, Clarity, by performing the album in its entirety at ten shows beginning this month. The shows kick off on the 23rd in New York City and wrap up March 7th in Arizona.

Clarity was the band’s second major label album, released on Capitol Records. Despite lasting critical acclaim, the record did not perform to the label’s expectations and the band was dropped. Their next album, Bleed American was self-recorded by the band and actually became their breakthrough release.
