On the heels of their elaborate reissue of Paul’s Boutique, the Beastie Boys have announced that the next album slated for the deluxe treatment will be their 1992 classic, Check Your Head. Due out April 7, 2009, multiple configurations ranging from a high quality DRM-free digital download of the album (including its numerous and classic b-sides and bonus tracks) to an ultra-deluxe 4 LP 180HQ vinyl version packaged in a fabric-wrapped hardcover coffee table book case and limited to 2000 copies. The retail release date of all physical editions other than the 4xLP version will be April 7, with the ultra deluxe following close behind.
The album was particularly notable as it was the first to feature the trio performing live instrumentation since their early hardcore days prior to Licensed to Ill. To coincide with the announcement, the band has posted a live performance from The Arsenio Hall Show circa 1992. Check that out here.

Philadelphia’s The Menzingers are currently working on their new EP titled Hold On Dodge. The release will mark the first material for their new home, Red Scare Industries.
The band’s last release was A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology back in 2007.

Trash Talk have announced a new EP, East of Eden. Recorded at Nieto Estudio with former Wet and Dry sound engineer, Manny Nieto, and enlisting the vocal talent of punk legend, Keith Morris (Circle Jerks, Black Flag, Midget Handjob), the disc includes two tracks: “East of Eden” with Keith Morris and “Son of a Bitch.”
A stream of the disc will be available tomorrow at the band’s official website.

The Hold Steady have recorded an intimate performance for the public television series “Live From The Artists Den”. The private show was filmed in New York City at the Old Emigrant Savings Bank Building, a ‘lavish’ former bank built in 1908.

Paducah, KY’s Teenage Rehab have announced via their myspace page that their new full length album will be titled Let’s Be Enemies and will include 17 tracks, one which features punk rock legend Wimpy Rutherford on lead vocals. The band opted to record the album in two inch analog format instead of the more common digital recording. The record is slated for an August 2009 release from Jailhouse! Records.
In addition to album news, Teenage Rehab will be hitting the road in July to support the album. They released Goodbye Sanity in 2008.

Vivian Girls are wrapping up work on their next album. The Brooklyn-based band posted some updates on their blog saying:
Right now we are in Costa Mesa, California recording our second album at the Distillery. Yesterday was awesome, we set everything up and tracked 6 songs…9 more songs today! We are so excited about this because it’s our first all-analog recording. We are almost done with the record! See you in Austin!

Brooklyn’s Bridge and Tunnel recently finished a tour to the Harvest of Hope fest and are planning on heading to Europe in April. The trip coincides with the release of an upcoming 7″ on Yo Yo Records features the track “Loss Leaders” and a cover of Silent Majority‘s “No I’m Not.” The band released East/West in 2008 along with a split with Young Livers.

The Paper Chase have announced plans to release their next full length this Spring. The record is titled Someday This Could All Be Yours, Part 1 and is due out May 26, 2009. The band, fronted by producer John Congleton, has announced that the album will feature ten songs, each representing natural disasters. The record is the follow up to 2006’s Now You Are One of Us.
Someday This Could All Be Yours, Part 2 -also comprised of songs about natural disasters–will be released in early 2010. Punknews.org interviewed the band in 2007.
