Lipona post new EP for free download

Lipona has posted a free download of their new EP titled Pigeonholed. The band released Atlas in 2008.

The band added:

This album has marked a new direction and we think this might be some of the best work we’ve ever done. It’s faster, more technical and has a more refined sound. Whereas Atlas was an introspective album, Pigeonholed is the opposite – the subject matter revolves around the current political climate and how we’ve all been dealing with the instability going on in the world.

The band is planning a physical vinyl release of the album in May with a bonus track. Download the EP here.

Death Cab for Cutie plans new EP

Death Cab For Cutie is working on a new EP featuring tracks which did not make the finished version of Narrow Stairs. They explained:

When we finished Narrow Stairs, there were four extra songs that, because we were trying to put together an album, we ended up not including them – it’s not like they’re castoffs or anything; they’re part of the Narrow Stairs experience. They needed to have a proper home, and the EP is it. There’s going to be four songs on it, plus the original version of ‘Talking Bird’ that features Ben [Gibbard] singing and playing the ukulele.

The EP is titled The Open Door and the band is aiming for a 2009 release.

Forever 21 uses Minor Threat-like logo in new design

Popular retailer Forever 21 has stocked an interesting looking shirt with what may appear to be imagery from Minor Threat The shirt in question can be seen here, and some appears to include “Minor Threat” in the font from Out of Step.

The Tripwire got a statement from Dischord Records who replied:

This is an unauthorized shirt and it is still unclear whether the shirt was produced by Forever 21 or if it is a bootleg that they just happen to carry. Either way the members of Minor Threat are looking into it and Forever 21 will be asked to stop selling it.

The band and the label tend to deal with bootleg shirts on a case by case basis, acknowledging the vast difference between kids screening shirts for friends and professional printing studios screening shirts for profit. Obviously this absurd Forever 21 shirt falls under the ‘unacceptable’ category.”
