Screeching Weasel and The Riverdales playing Austin TX in June

The recently announced shows featuring Screeching Weasel have been confirmed by the venue. The band will now be performing at Emo’s in Austin, Texas on Friday June 19th and the venue has confirmed that Ben Weasel’s other band, Riverdales will be performing the next day on June 20th, 2009.

This year, Ben has several releases due. The Brain That Wouldn’t Die [Live] on May 5, 2009, These Ones Are Bitter [Reissue] on April 7, 2009, Phase 3 on April 7, 2009 and Invasion U.S.A on July 14, 2009

Green Day plan Friday release, announces first single

According to this Spin report, Green Day will be releasing their upcoming full length, 21st Century Breakdown on May 15th – a Friday – rather than May 20, 2009 as originally announced.

The band is also planning to debut the first single from the record, “Know Your Enemy,” in mid-April through digital retailers and radio. Spin describes the song as “like an outtake from the Dookie sessions.”

The record is their first since 2004’s American Idiot.

Pansy Division: “That’s So Gay”

Long running San Francisco-based pop punk outfit Pansy Division have announced their next full length. The record is titled That’s So Gay and is due out March 31, 2009.

The album is their eight and first in six years. In the interim years, the group released The Essential Pansy Division [CD/DVD] and the new documentary, Life in a Gay Rock Band.

Every Time I Die hit the studio

Every Time I Die have begun recording their full length debut for Epitaph Records. Frontman Keith Buckley had this to say:

We start recording today with Steve Evetts. […] We got in last night from Buffalo. 47 hours straight shot to Orange County to start the new record today with Evetts in Anaheim. We will be videotaping basically the entire process, posting portions on here and portions on our modlife site which will be open shortly.

The band released The Big Dirty in 2007.

As I Lay Dying tease new DVD

As I Lay Dying have posted a trailer for their forthcoming DVD. The set is titled This is Who We Are and is due out April 14, 2009. The DVD includes a two hour documentary with artist interviews and commentary, interviews with friends and family, as well as observations and road stories from colleagues and bands. The second disc features 90 minutes of live performances recorded in California in November 2008 and the third disc features videos and more features.
