Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and The Nightwatchman has joined up with controversial hip hop artist, Boots Riley of The Coup to form Street Sweeper Social Club. “It’s revolutionary party jams,” said Morello of Street Sweeper Social Club. “It’s got huge steamroller riffs combined with depth, charge, funk, while Boots unloads clip after clip of incendiary rhymes rich with satire and venom.”
The record is due out June 16, 2009 and the duo will be supporting the record on the forthcoming tour headlined by Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction. You can check out two songs from the album on their myspace page.

Recent Epitaph Records signing, Settle have posted some more new music from their upcoming album. The record is titled At Home We Are Tourists and is due out May 19, 2009. The band promises influences like Elvis Costello to the Liars and was produced by Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Army Navy, Yo La Tengo) and mixed by Ken Andrews (Jimmy Eat World, Pete Yorn, BRMC)

Bloomington, IN’s Good Luck will be heading out on tour to support their debut album, Into Lake Griffy, which was self-relased last year, and recently released on vinyl through No Idea.
The Serious Geniuses are calling it quits. The band made no statement except to announce their final show at Great Scott in Boston, MA on June 4th, 2009.
The band released You Can Steal the Riffs, But You Can’t Steal the Talent in 2008.

Comeback Kid are out on tour in Europe and have sent us in some notes from the road. Today’s their last dispatch – we’ve enjoyed having them and hope they get back here safely!
They released Broadcasting… in 2007 and Through The Noise last October.

The Futon Critic reports that Green Day will be appearing on Saturday Night Live on May 16th.
The event will be their third appearance on the late night variety show and they will be joined by host Will Ferrell.

Murder By Death and Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls will be collaborating for MBD’s third 7-inch in their ongoing series. The release is on 7-inch vinyl with cover design by comic book artist Ryan Browne and features the two acts trading covers with one another. Side One showcases Murder by Death’s take on Amanda’s “Another Year”, and Side Two is Amanda’s cover of “Three Men Hanging” (with ZoĆ« Keating on cello and Lyndon Chester on violin).
This split is limited to 1,000 copies and is available for pre-order via the band. After the record ships in May, everyone who purchased a 7″ will be provided with a digital download code and digital copies can be found on their bandcamp page.
