Mad Caddies post recording update

Mad Caddies have posted an update on the recording of their new album. The band said the following:

So it’s been a while since we have written anything but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. We have been in the studio working on new music and finally yesterday we recorded some new music and hope to have at least 5 finished for the most part today.

We also have many tour dates being worked on with the first confirmed date coming July 31 in Norway. It will be our first time in Norway so that will be pretty cool. We hear they have the most amazing Donuts. Many more dates are to come and few US dates will most likely be included. You will hear the new songs on these upcoming tours.

The band released Keep It Going in 2007.

Kristian Dragge of Smut Peddlers (1970-2009)

On Sunday, April 5, 2009, Kristian Dragge, little brother of Pennywise lead guitarist Fletcher Dragge, tragically passed away at the young age of 39. He left behind his fiancée, Cindy Linn Groeneweg, and their 1-month old baby girl, Avery Nycole Dragge, as well as his mother Karen Dragge. Fletcher had this to say:

My brother Kristian has been a member of the South Bay punk rock scene since 1980 and was at one time the guitar player in the infamous Smut Peddlers. He was a legend in the punk rock community and was well know for his hell-raising antics, along with his fierce loyalty to friends and family. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He has been a huge part of the Pennywise family since Day One.

We are setting up a trust fund for his month old baby girl Avery Nycole, in order to assure that she has everything she’ll ever need growing up. Any donations at this time would be greatly appreciated.

Our deepest condolences to his friends and family

Make Do and Mend

Punknews.org reviews editor Brian Schultz recently put together a video segment for post-hardcore band Make Do and Mend. Here’s what he had to say about it:

I had to do a video project for an Online Journalism class at school, so I decided to do a band profile. I decided to do Make Do and Mend since they’re an awesome up-and-coming band more people should know about. I figured I may as well have it posted on Punknews since it’s relevant and more people could see it. The lighting for the performance is poor, the sound’s kinda mediocre and the whole thing’s pretty amateur, but whatever.

The band originally self-released the EP Bodies Of Water, but it has since been released via Panic Records.
