The Mars Volta have announced a title and release date for their next album, Pitchfork is reporting. The record is titled Octahedron and is due out June 23, 2009. It is the follow-up to Bedlam in Goliath which was released in 2008.

The Menzingers have posted a new song from their upcoming four song EP Hold On Dodge. The album will be released on 7″ vinyl and digital download in May and will be their first release for Red Scare. It is the follow up to 2007’s A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology.

Saves The Day have announced a new guitarist to replace long-time member David Soloway who left the band last month. The band has recruited Arun Bali as the band’s new guitar player and backup vocalist.
The band will be hitting the road with Alkaline Trio on April 18th.

Franz Nicolay and Moneybrother have announced some shows together later this month.
Classics Of Love, the latest project from former Operation Ivy and Common Rider frontman Jesse Michaels, have announced that their recently announced EP for Asian Man Records, will be released “some time in May”.
The band also plan to complete an album and visit new cities this summer in addition to a previously announced visit to the UK, as they commented:
This summer we are going to be focusing on Hellafornia gigs and writing for an eventual album with possible jaunts to Seattle, Pheonix and other not-too-far away places in the mix also. So if you are local or visiting, look for shows around here starting in May and going until whenever. Especially exciting for us is our post-tour/record release show at Gilman which we expect to be a blow out. We are also looking into a Bottom of the Hill gig as well as a make-up show in San Diego, among other things.

The Static Age have announced plans to release a new record this Fall. They noted:
For the past couple months I’ve been tinkering with the final versions of what will become our next record — “i/o” — due out Sept 2009. I’ve cut some songs, added some songs, roughed some audio up, lost a couple guitar/vocal tracks (backup backup backup), and am now just in the protracted “wrapping up vocals” stage. It’s going to be The Static Age’s roughest/cleanest and most/least electronic release to date. You’ll see what I mean.
