Critically acclaimed hardcore outfit, Verse, have announced their final two shows. The band split up last month

The shows will both take place in Providence, RI and support will be provided by Shipwreck, I Rise, Saint Jude, Product of Waste. Crime in Stereo, Soul Control, The Body and Wasteland.

The band’s final album was 2008’s Aggression. Punknews.org readers voted it one of the best of 2008.

Green Day plans club show to celebrate release

Green Day has announced a single club show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on May 18, just three days after the release of the band’s eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown on May 15, 2009 reports MTV Germany.

The band also performed some small club gigs in their hometown of San Francisco this past week, including a show at the 500-capacity DNA Lounge. According to the New York Times’ ArtsBeat blog, the band played “21st Century Breakdown” in its entirety before running through a set of older material.

Frank Turner opening for The Offspring on selected dates

Frank Turner, solo artist formerly of Million Dead, has been tapped to open shows on The Offspring‘s upcoming North American tour.

Turner will be playing first, before the Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise and Sum 41 on shows from June 30th through July 18th. The tour dates are here.

Arkells win Galaxie Rising Stars Award

Hamilton, Ontario’s Arkells have been awared the 2009 Galaxie Rising Stars Award. Presented by the CBC and Canadian Music Week. The band has been heavily touring since the release of their 2008 full length Jackson Square on Dine Alone Records. The connections that the band has made with fans on the road was cited as a major reason for their win.

Ferret Music signs Revolution Mother

Ferret Records have announced the signing of Revolution Mother. The band is fronted by Pro Skateboarder Mike Vallely and includes past members of Mean Season and Outspoken.

The band’s new album was produced by Fred Archambault (Avenged Sevenfold, Valiant Thorr) and is titled Rollin’ With Tha Mutha. It is due out July 7, 2009. It is the follow up to Enjoy the Ride.

Fat Wreck Chords has signed Minneapolis-based Banner Pilot. The band will record at the Terrarium in their hometown next week for a fall release. Berkeley, CA’s Rancid have made the song “Last One To Die” available online. The track appears on the upcoming full length Let the Dominoes Fall. That album will also be available in a 3 disk expanded edition including an acoustic disc and a DVD. This week Senator Charles E. Schumer introduced legislation to target ticket scalping as well as ticket resellers like TicketNow. The bill would require a two-day waiting period from when tickets go on sale before a reseller can buy those tickets to put on the secondary market. Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor is urging musicians to go independent. He stated “Anyone who’s an executive at a record label does not understand what the internet is, how it works, how people use it, how fans and consumers interact – no idea.”

Spinnerette, the project featuring Brody Dalle and Tony Bevilacqua of the Distillers, has detailed their upcoming debut. NOFX has hinted at an upcoming 10 inch cover album of songs from old hardcore bands. Richmond, VA’s Landmines have posted of cover of the Clash classic “Guns of Brixton“. 311 unveiled the first single “Hey You” from their forthcoming album Uplifter. Beastie Boys have posted the special features from their Check Your Head reissue including audio commentary, nine music videos, a Flash game and more. Gaslight Anthem has been performing acoustic and discussed a more “rock sound” for their 2010 album. The Lawrence Arms are planning their 10th anniversary show. The Dead Milkmen have been added to Insubordination Fest featuring bands like Pansy Division, Teenage Bottlerocket, Squirtgun, Dillinger Four, the Copyrights and more. The Casualties and Leftover Crack will be co-headlining a tour together beginning June 11th. The Bamboozle spinoff Hoodwink has announced new sets from bands covering their influence. Look for Anti-Flag tackling the Clash, the Ataris covering the Misfits, and Cartel tracking New Found Glory. Finally it’s been announced that Blink-182 have tapped Weezer for their summer reunion tour

Landmines cover “Guns of Brixton” (The Clash)

Richmond, VA’s Landmines have posted of cover of the classic track from the Clash, “Guns of Brixton”. The song was recorded in their practice space and mixed by the band while recording demos for their upcoming EP titled Hell Is What You Make It. The track, however, will not be appearing on the EP.

Portugal. the Man’s plans ‘The Satanic Satanist”

Portugal. The Man have announced the release of their next full length. The record is titled The Satanic Satanist and is due out July 21, 2009. The band is promising a “bit of a departure but still portuguese.” The band worked with producer Paul Q. Kolderie, (Lemonheads, Pixies, Radiohead) and Adam Taylor (the Lemonheads, The Dresden Dolls) and Cornershop sitarist/keyboardist Anthony Saffery,

The band released Censored Colors in 2008.

The Masters of Punk Rock release 7″

The Masters of Punk Rock, a self-described ’80s punk parody band has just released their first 7″, which features artwork by Ryan August and an appearance by Stephen Egerton, best known for his work with the Descendents and All.

The 7″ comes in a silkscreened cover with lyric sheet, cardstock insert and a trading card (presumably featuring members of the band). It’s limited to 300, and people who buy it will receive a download code with the vinyl.
