George Rebelo (Hot Water Music) joins Against Me!

Against Me!As submitted by many of you (but Angiepants first), George Rebelo of Hot Water Music has joined Against Me! as their newest drummer. Rebelo replaces the recently departed Warren Oakes, who left the band after a number of years to, at least in part, focus on his new Mexican restaurant.

The two bands also share a hometown (Gainesville, FL) and former record label (No Idea Records).

Hot Water Music reunited last year and have played several shows since, though there are no known plans for a full-scale tour or album. Against Me! released the divisive New Wave in 2007 and have an EP of older material, The Original Cowboy, due out July 7th on Fat Wreck Chords.

NOFX to be featured on upcoming Warped Tour comp

Look for an exclusive NOFX song on the next Warped Tour compilation from SideOneDummy. Fat Mike posted on the band’s website:

“Hi everyone, here’s what happened: some people at Side One Dummy records asked NOFX to be on the cover of the Warped Tour comp. We said “NO!” . Then they sent over some “Comp”-romising photos from our last trip to Japan that no one really needs to see. So we let them use a picture of me and Hefe for the cover. A week goes by and I get a call from them again. This time they want an unreleased song for the comp. I told them to go to hell. Then they sent over more photos. The next day NOFX went into the studio and recorded a new song for them. They liked it so much they only charged me $10,000 for the remainder of the photos.

NOFX released Coaster earlier this year via Fat Wreck Chords.

Thrice starts mixing new album, announce title and October release

Thrice According to Thrice‘s official Twitter and blog, the band has wrapped up recording and will begin mixing the album this week. The band is working with mixer Dave Schiffman.

The band also commented on release plans, saying:

All the tracking is finished for the new record. Though it still needs to be mixed and mastered. To everyone who is hoping for it to come out next month now, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but there is a lengthy process still ahead with production, sending out copies to press, shipping, etc. You have to send to press about 3 months early because that is how early they put together the issues. Sooo, the record will be out in early Octoberish.

Vagrant Records has also announced the title for the record, Beggars, and frontman Dustin Kensrue, commented, :

I think we are at most times deluded in thinking that we are totally responsible for our circumstances, but in the end almost everything is beyond our control to a high degree and we can’t even be sure we will wake up tomorrow. Whether you believe that God created you for a purpose, or that the world is governed by blind chance, everything in life is a gift at its core; we are beggars all.

The record follows their four EP cycle, The Alchemy Index: Volumes I & II: Fire & Water and The Alchemy Index: Volumes III & IV: Air & Earth.
