Nathen Maxwell (Flogging Molly) releasing solo album

Nathen Maxwell of Flogging Molly has announced his first solo album. The record is titled White Rabbit and is due out August 18, 2009. Maxwell has contributed songs to Flogging Molly albums in years past, but things progressed differently when the band went into the studio to record Float, their most recent release, Nathen explained:

I played these songs for the band and our singer Dave [King] said, “Nate, you’ve got your own story and I really think you should record these songs,’ Once I got his blessing I figured it’d be bad karma not to record and release them.

Maxwell teamed up with long time Flogging Molly producer Ted Hutt (The Gaslight Anthem, Chuck Ragan, Lucero, Bouncing Souls, Street Dogs). You can find two songs here.

Bomb the Music Industry! and Laura Stevenson and The Cans detail split 7″

Kiss of Death Records has announced plans to release a split 7″ featuring Bomb the Music Industry! and Laura Stevenson and The Cans. Each side will feature one original and one cover of the other band on the split, and the 7″ is due out sometime in July.

BTMI! frontman Jeff Rosenstock blogged about the release:

“I’ve been recording the Cans for the past week or two for this and they fucking RUUUUULE. As for the Bomb the Music Industry! side, it’s kind of a back-to-basics thing as I recorded all these songs by myself in my apartment with drum machines, laying down most of the basic tracks in a day or two (album minus band style.) I thought it would be fun to try doing stuff that way again since I’ve really learned a lot since recording Get Warmer and Scrambles. Musically it doesn’t sound like Album Minus Band so don’t hold yr breath.”

Two songs from the release (one from each band) can be streamed at the Kiss of Death myspace page. Bomb The Music Industry! recently released a b-sides collection entitled Others! Others! while Laura Stevenson and the Cans released Laura Stevenson: A Record in 2008.

The Casualties to release “We Are All We Have”

The Casualties have set a release date for what will be their eighth album, We Are All We Have. The record is due out August 25, 2009 and the band’s drummer Mark Eggers commented on the sound:

[It’s] definitely our most diverse album. There’s a reggae song on there, there’s our staple Casualties anthem sing-alongs, there’s some thrash-metal influence in there, so it’s all over the place, but still holding on to the true Casualties sound. I think it’s what the band needed after six records. Being in different countries just opens your mind to things, It’s definitely still way Casualties fuckin’ real hardcore punk It’s leaps and bounds from what it was [in the early days] to what it is now. We’re not the type of band that would stay stuck in that era.

The band issued Under Attack in 2006.
