Blink-182 in it for the foreseeable future

After the band reunited, rumours began that the Blink 182 reunion was just a plan for one summer tour and one album, but the band recently spoke to Sign On San Diego to dismiss that notion:

I hate when bands get back together and do one tour and it feels like they’re going to make a bunch of money, and then they go away for awhile and then come back again. We did this (reunion) to continue being creative and having fun. I see us continuing to tour and put out albums as long as it’s fun. There’s no end game and no plan at all. We enjoy playing music together, that’s all.

The band will be touring this summer with Weezer and Fall Out Boy. The tour kicks off in July.

Lucero completes album

Lucero has announced the completion of their first full length for Universal/Republic. The band posted this update:

Lucero is really pleased to announce that the new album is finished. Details to come very soon. In the meantime, we’re making plans to do one video for each song on the album and we’re interested in hearing from you if you’ve got the skills and interest to make one. Our record label will be able to use all of them for promotional purposes. In short, you’ll get a lot of press and credit for them, but just a little bit of money. Hey, that seems to be the way of the record business these days.

The record is the follow up to Rebels, Rogues, & Sworn Brothers from 2006. In the intervening years, frontman Ben Nichols released a solo EP. The EP is based around the novel, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy.

Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman talk about Operation Ivy reunion

Rancid‘s Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman addressed the long-standing rumours that there would be reunion of Operation Ivy. In short:

I love what we did back then, but what we do now is move forward. To go back 20 years wouldn’t feel right. I’m super proud of what we did then, a big part of me is in that band. But it’s always about the future for me.

We’re all still friends, we still talk to Dave [Mello] and Jesse [Michaels],” said Freeman. “But we were 21 in that band. I’m 43 now. I still really like the songs, though.

Rancid released Let the Dominoes Fall this year. Former Operation Ivy vocalist Jesse Michaels will release his debut EP with Classics of Love this year as well.
