Billy Talent signs to Roadrunner for US release

Canada’s Billy Talent have joined Roadrunner Records for the US release of their new album, III. The record will be made available in the United States on September 22, 2009 having been released in their native Canada earlier in July.

Prior to the full length, the band will release a new, digital EP, Rusted From the Rain, on July 28, 2009. The EP will feature four songs and be available via all digital retailers. The band is currently on the road with Rise Against and Rancid.

Blink 182’s tour kickoff performance documented

A busy fan recorded what looks to be the entirety of Blink 182‘s first reunion tour show. The recording features 23 songs including favorites like “Carousel,” “Dumpweed,” “Anthem, Pt.2,” “Dammit,” “Man Overboard” and many others.

MTV’s James Montgomery reviewed the first performance saying:

Rather, it was like they had just emerged from a time capsule, perfectly preserved. DeLonge still battered his guitar (and slurred the words like crazy), Mark Hoppus still struck at his bass (and pogoed a lot), and Travis Barker still bashed his kit (and didn’t wear a shirt).

Think Fast! co-owner and artist Daniel Bressette collaborate on Children’s Book

Think Fast! Records co-owner, Larry Scott, has collaborated with artist Daniel Bressette for a new children’s book titled Sammy the Sloth Runs a Race! due out in August 2009.

Warren Oakes talks more about the restauraunt, Against Me! departure

In a new interview with The Florida Alligator, former Against Me! drummer Warren Oakes discussed the impetuous behind his new restauraunt Boca Fiesta and why he felt unable to continue with Against Me!:

It wasn’t going to be feasible to do both simultaneously. I had a really good run playing music. I spent eight years touring and recording and really living that life fully. It felt like that it was time for a new chapter, so I just threw myself into this completely.

Warren also talked about some of the unusual food available on the menu, which currently includes local fauna, alligator, and will seasonally include ostrich, kangaroo and rattlesnake. Check out the full interview here.

Sub Pop to bring catalogue to Rock Band

Sub Pop Records recently spoke to Rolling Stone about their plans to bring much of their catalogue to Rock Band 2.

Sub Pop A&R executive Tony Kiewel says that the label is looking at converting its entire catalog, which includes early Nirvana, the Postal Service, Sunny Day Real Estate, Pissed Jeans, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Seaweed, The Shins and countless others. Kiewel concludes by noting that he sees Rock Band 2 as “ a ‘release’ as far as I’m concerned. This’ll be another format alongside vinyl and CD.

Thrice responds to leak with early album release

On the heels of yesterday’s statement where Thrice expressed disappointment over the very early leak of their new album, Beggars, comes news that the label will be pushing up the digital release of the album to August 11, 2009. The physical release is still slated for October 13, 2009.

The band’s comment yesterday was:

We’d like to thank those of you who have resisted the urge to download this leak, those of you who have been supportive of us in online forums as this thing began to spread yesterday, and those of you who have heard the record and are sharing kind words about it. We always appreciate your support, but even more so right now.
