Pat Schramm (Bridge and Tunnel)
New York’s Bridge and Tunnel have been capturing punk rock hearts since the release of their self-titled 7″ in 2007. The two ladies and two gents continue to create fist pumping sing-alongs that fit right at home with the rest of the No Idea roster, where they released their debut full length East/West last fall. They’ll be one of the many great acts heading to Gainesville, Fla. this Halloween weekend to take part once again in The Fest. Kira Wisniewski chatted with drummer Pat Schramm by phone on July 30 discussing a new record, an elevator incident from the Fest last year and what makes No Idea so special.

No new Drag the River album until 2010 or 2011, says Jon Snodgrass
Although Drag the River is more or less back together, vocalist/guitarist Jon Snodgrass recently told the Denver/Boulder edition of AV Club not to expect a new record from the band until 2010 at the earliest, saying:
“We’re [Snodgrass and co-conspirator Chad Price] just kind of working on some songs” … “It’ll be done when it’s done, next year or the next one.”
Drag The River’s last proper full-length was 2008’s You Can’t Live This Way, while a rarities collection entitled Bad at Breaking Up was released earlier this year. Snodgrass has kept busy in the meantime, releasing his first solo record Visitor’s Band earlier this year, and a split LP with Cory Branan via Suburban Home Records.

Alkaline Trio to work with Matt Allison
Alkaline Trio will apparently be reuniting with longtime producer Matt Allison for their next, self-released album. Asian Man Records announced this in their latest newsletter, saying:
The fact that the new trio record is going to be self released by the band and that Matt Allison is producing is enough reason to do jumping jacks, but now a SKIBA solo release on Asian Man? That would be over the top great. Perhaps I can get Dan Andriano to do one too.
Allison was also behind the boards for the Trio’s albums, Maybe I’ll Catch Fire and Goddamnit. The band parted ways with their major label home at Epic after just one record, Agony & Irony in 2008

Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch recovering from surgery
Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys has sent an update on his condition. The musician was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour which forced the cancellation of the trio’s touring plans:
So I’m about a week and a half out of surgery now and rapidly recovering from it. I’m pretty well detoxed from the anesthesia that they pumped me up with to keep me under for all that time. That took several days to get out of my system. My neck and jaw are still pretty stiff from the surgery, but it gets better everyday. Had the stitches out this past monday… so things are moving along.
But no sooner am I on the mend from this first torture than are they lining up the next one. The next line of treatment will be radiation. That involves blasting you with some kind of beam for a few minutes a day, 5 days a week, for about 7 weeks. That will start in a few weeks…
In honor of MCA, Jay-Z covered “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” and Coldplay covered “Fight For Your Right To Party” at All Point’s West, where the Beasties had been previously scheduled to perform.
