Smokeout promoter discusses Sublime reunion

Cypress Hill’s B-Real spoke out recently about the upcoming Sublime reunion at his upcoming Smokeout Festival. He addresses concerns about the group performing under the Sublime name given the 1996 death of frontman Bradley Nowell.

Smokeout, which intends to raise awareness about the cannabis counter-culture, will be held October 23 and 24 at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, California. The event will feature Pennywise and Bad Brains along with a number of hip hop and metal acts.

The Clash’s Mick Jones and Topper Headon with Billy Bragg

A brief video is now online featuring Clash members Mick Jones and Topper Headon reunited in the studio along side Billy Bragg for the Jail Guitar Doors campaign.

As we reported last week, the two Clash alum reunited in the studio for the first time in 27 years alongside Bragg to record a cover of the classic “Jail Guitar Doors” for the charity of the same name. The initiative is aimed at supplying musical instruments to prison inmates to aid with their rehabilitation. Bragg, Jones and Headon were backed by a band comprised of former inmates Leon Walker, Jonny Neesom, Kevin Hawkins and Jon Smillie. The recording took place in former Mescalero Steve “Smiley” Barnard’s studio. The event was filmed as part of an upcoming documentary by Alan Miles titled Breaking Rocks.
