MxPx All-Stars (Japan & Malaysia)

A special line up of MxPx will tour Japan and Malaysia this December with Zebrahead. The shows are unique in that they will not feature drummer Yuri Ruley and guitarist Tom Wisniewski, but instead a few familiar ringers. On the tour singer/bassist Mike Herrera will be backed by Ataris frontman Kris Roe on guitar and the Summer Obsession’s Chris Wilson on drums. Wilson was prevously a member of MxPx, while Roe has been a friend and tourmate of the band since 1996, and as such the group will tour under the name “MxPx All-Stars.” For the record, Ruley and Wisniewski are just taking a temporary break for this tour and will be back in the band afterwards.

The group is expected to throw a few Ataris songs into their set along with other surprises. MxPx is supporting their upcoming Left Coast Punk EP as well as an upcoming holiday album. The Ataris are currently finishing up their sixth album The Graveyard of the Atlantic.

Off With Their Heads members, Punknews.org staffers form Mall’d to Death

Mall’d to Death, a new project out of Minneapolis featuring Dan Jensen (Off With Their Heads), Dani Barstad (the Terrordactyls) and Tyler Barrett has posted some songs online which can be heard here. According to their myspace blog:

The idea came about following observations made by Josh Caterer at the Triple Rock regarding how much Minnesotans seem to like their malls and really take it to the next level (hence name), and a desire to make music that was the complete antithesis of such. Eventually songs were written, members were added, and Mall’d to Death took on the shape of what you hear now.

The trio is planning further recording and shows for later this fall.

Let Me Run announces new singer, plans Paper & Plastick release

Let Me Run Let Me Run has announced a significant lineup change as well as a new signing to Paper and Plastick. Former singer and guitar player Travis Omilian and the band parted ways over the summer. He has since been replaced by Dan Maxwell. The rest of the band had more to add about the change up:

The addition of Dan into the band has given us a seriously new direction. After we released Meet Me at the Bottom we weren’t really pleased with the outcome. Nothing sounded like we wanted it to. We loved the songs, but they seemed oversaturated. With Dan now, there’s more of openness and collaborative feeling with writing these songs. They are hashed out and streamlined until everyone is happy with the outcome. It’s reinvigorated some of our material off of MMATB. Since our first practice with Dan, I’ve never heard “Shane” played better. It’s great.

Let Me Run also announce that they will be heading into The Machine Shop in November to record a new release for Paper and Plastick Records. The release is expected to be released as early as January ’10. A demo recording for “Scared as Shit”, one of the new songs has been posted on their MySpace.
