A Slight Clarification…

Due to an ongoing debate in the office and online as to whether “12 AM” means noon or midnight (we’re still sticking with midnight), it’s been more challenging than we realized to tell people when exactly our game will be available. Factor in the Earth rotating around the sun, daylight savings time, some of our fans insisting on using the Mayan calendar, and we’re just going to try and make this as specific as possible:

When L4D2 will go live:

  • Monday, November 16th, 9:00 PM Pacific Standard Time
  • Monday, November 16th, 10:00 PM Mountain Standard Time
  • Monday, November 16th, 11:00 PM Central Standard Time
  • Tuesday, November 17th, 12:00 AM (midnight) Eastern Standard Time
  • Tuesday, November 17th, 5:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time
  • Tuesday, November 17th, 8:00 AM Moscow Time
  • Tuesday, November 17th, 2:00 PM Japan Standard Time

Also, if you were interested in learning a bit more about the Survivors you’ll be playing as this Tuesday(ish), check out our Survivor pages for Nick, Ellis, Coach and Rochelle with character, weapon and item details.

Asian Man and Ben Weasel part ways

As of December 12th, 2009, Asian Man Records will discontinue their relationship with Ben Weasel and that means the end of albums from Screeching Weasel, Riverdales and Ben’s solo material. The production and distribution of those albums will shift to Recess Records. Asian Man’s Mike Park explained:

Ben has decided that he can no longer work with me and Asian Man Records. To be honest, I have no hard feelings and I only wish Ben the best. After Dec. 12th, the good folks at RECESS RECORDS will be handling all the Screeching Weasel, Riverdales, and Ben Weasel solo releases. So what does this mean other than me being bummed these great records are no longer part of the Asian Man catalog? Well, it means we have very little time to sell a bunch of great records.

To that end, the label has put together some “clearance” packages which you can find here.

Municipal Waste show flooded, band plays on

Municipal Waste were getting warmed up for their show a freak flood occurred inside the venue. During Goatwhore’s set, a fan decided it would be a good idea to climb on the pipes in the ceiling. Little did he know, that climbing the pipes would pull down one of the pipes causing the sprinkler system to go off and flood the venue.

After an hour of confusion the band and the promoter decided to move the show into another room in the same venue. Once the decision was made, word of mouth got out on the street, and all of a sudden there was a larger crowd then originally had shown up for the flooded show. The band took the stage for a much longer set then usual and played crowd requests as well.

Matt Skiba album delayed till after Alkaline Trio album releases

Matt Skiba Asian Man Records has announced an indefinite delay on the upcoming solo album from Alkaline Trio guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba. The album, called Demos, was slated for a February 16, 2010 release. Mike Park explains:

The release is going to be pushed back until after the new Alkaline Trio album is released. When you’re in a big band like the Trio, sometimes you have to play by the rules of the big wigs in charge of whatever big wigs do. Matt told me he’d let me know as soon as possible in terms of a release date. The album is finished, mastered, and ready to be delivered as soon as we are given an exact date. Sorry if this causes any heartache to anyone, but will keep you updated as soon as we know what’s going on.

Skiba last released a split CD with Kevin Seconds in 2002. Meanwhile, his Trio bandmate Dan Andriano has been playing solo shows under the name The Emergency Room, and Alkaline Trio are slated to self-release their next full-length sometime in the future. It would probably be a reasonable assumption that the new Trio album will come early in 2010, perhaps in February.

Jawbox open to new material and touring says Coletta

Either disagreeing with her bandmate or reflecting a change of mind in the band, Jawbox bassist Kim Coletta has suggested that she is open to both new material and further touring. She told Billboard:

I’d love to [tour and record again]. It would be the coolest thing in the world. [The Jimmy Fallon performance is] a safe way of seeing if it’s still fun to play together, or get back together. It’s an easy way to test the waters. I can’t say whether it’s going to lead to a full-length show or any touring, but we’ll see. We’re taking it one step at a time.

Check out the interview here.
