Omar Rodríguez-López: “Xenophanes”
Prolific musician Omar Rodríguez-López has posted a stream of his new solo album. Titled Xenophanes, the record is due out this week. In 2009 alone, Rodríguez-López released albums with The Mars Volta, as El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez Lopez, and under his own name. A total of eight releases in 2009.
For this release, Omar took the helm vocally and lyrically, as well as musically and sang entirely in Spanish. The album features frequent collaborators, bassist Juan Alderete de la Peña, drummer Thomas Pridgen and keyboardist/percussionist Marcel Rodriguez Lopez. Additionally, the album includes contributions from Mark Aanderud (additional keyboards), as well as the voice of Ximena Sariñana.

National Underground posts Fest 8 videos featuring Flatliners, Dead To Me
Our friends at National Underground have begun posting their own videos from The Fest 8.
The initial batch features recordings from Fat Wreck labelmates The Flatliners and Dead To Me; the former performing “Mastering the World’s Smallest Violin” from their 2007 full-length The Great Awake in 2007, which can be seen here, and the latter performing “Bad Friends” from the freshly released African Elephants as well as “By the Throat” from 2006’s Cuban Ballerina.
