Matt Hawks (Hit the Switch)

Hit The Switch Hit the Switch almost made it. The Chino, California punks signed to Nitro in 2006 to rerelease “Domestic Tranquility and Social Justice,” only to have the label go the free download route, and shortly thereafter get out of the business of releasing new albums altogether. But the guys are trying not to let it get to them; they’ve simply continued playing shows and got in the studio, several times, to record the latest effort, Observing Infinities, which released in May.

Guitarist and vocalist Matt Hawks exchanged emails in September with Punknews staff interviewer and Pads & Panels purveyor Bill Jones. Hawks opened up about the Nitro experience, how the band has gotten back on track, the confusion surrounding the release of their latest album and what’s to come.

Bad Religion to start pre-production on next album

Faster Louder is reporting that Bad Religion is ready to begin pre-production on their next album. The magazine spoke to drummer Brooks Wackerman who explained:

Brett and Greg have already started work on some new material. I’m yet to hear any of their ideas but when we get back from Australia and New Zealand we’re going to start pre-production on the next record. It’s just a matter of getting the songs together and making the best record we can. But in 2010 we’re definitely releasing a new album.

The band last released New Maps of Hell [Deluxe Edition] [CD/DVD] in 2008.

Dischord talks vinyl release plans, milestones

Dischord Records has sent us an update on progress as they reissue much of their catalogue on vinyl.

Beginning last November, the label began the process of bringing the production of our entire catalog back to the USA from Europe. Doing so required that we re-cut and replace the metalwork for each album and the label used the change as a chance to refresh current titles, but also to bring back titles that had been out of print.

As of one year in, the label has completed 30 reissues, including all of Fugazi‘s catalogue except Instrument.
