Bane has announced another new EP. Coming on the heels of their Boston 6:58pm from earlier this month, the hardcore veterans will be releasing six more new songs. The band recorded with Jay Maas at Getaway Studios in June 2009 and six new songs named after American soap operas.
The band’s new songs will be released on various labels throughout the world, all of which will have their own signature title and cover art for the release. Various photographers were contacted in the different locations around the world where the records would be released and a photo shoot at the exact minute on the same day took place, seven photographers took a picture of their city skyline at that minute, on that day.
For some it was 7:58 in the morning, for others 12:58 at night, but they all pulled it off and the photo they took would be the cover and the title of the release for each territory, Tokyo 7:58am, Dublin 11:58pm, Boston 6:58pm, Perth 7:58am and to be released by 6131 Records on December 8th – Los Angeles, 3:58 pm.

Hardcore act Burning Empires (first announced in September) which features Stuart Ross, Kyle Johnson and Ryan Morgan of Misery Signals, Andy Hurley from Fall Out Boy and vocalist Matt Mixon, have announced their debut 7-inch.
The band describes the sound:
BE is a crusty hard-charging hardcore punk with nary a melodic or metal shred in site. The bulk of the songwriting is done by Ross and lyrics are by Morgan who handles vocals (unlike his guitar position in Misery Signals). Ross says of the band “musically I wanted to do a band in relation to Misery Signals, a more punky hardcore version of what we were doing influenced by bands like Propaghandi, Comeback Kid and Cursed.
The band has a MySpace page and will be releasing their debut 7-inch November 10th via their own FC Records.

“The Suicide Machines” have announced a two shows on November 5th at the Old Miami in Detroit. The first show is all ages and the second is 21+.
Notice the ‘air quotes’ – We are doing this for fun only. No tours, etc. Whenever you see the name “Suicide Machines” in regards to Jay, Ryan, Rich, and Justin playing Suicide Machines songs, just think “Jay, Ryan, Rich, and Justin are partying. We should go.” We’re doing our best to revert to the mentality of 15-year-olds when it comes us playing. Let’s be honest, things like this are way more fun at 15.
Both shows are for the legal defense fund of a local activist.

Several Punknews.org staff members had the privilege of attending The Fest 8 in Gainesville, FL this past weekend. We were able to capture a lot of great video and over the next several days, we’ll be sharing the results of our exploits with all of you.
Tonight’s video comes from Broadway Calls, who took a day off from their West Coast tour with Bayside and The Bouncing Souls to fly into Gainesville and play a Sunday matinee set at The Fest. The sizable crowd, hardly weary from two previous days of Festing, displayed their appreciation in the form of repeated stage dives.
In the video the band performs one song from each of their full-lengths: “Midnight Hour” from this year’s Good Views, Bad News and “Van Rides and High Tides” from their 2007 self-titled full-length.

Undoubtedly the most popular hardcore band based Korea, The Geeks should be one of the first coming to mind when you think of Asian hardcore. Among the “K-Pop” permeating the entire country – Rain, Big Bang, Wondergirls– the substantial hardcore scene causes a great sigh of relief. Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, The Geeks sit tight on both Korea’s Townhall Records and Florida-based Think Fast! Records. Their brand of positive melodic hardcore does well in both hemispheres. While they rarely get a chance to visit the West, their LP Every Time We Fall is available for your listening pleasure on their Punknews profile page, and they are currently working on a new EP. Recent Korea resident Stephanie Thornton talked with lead singer Ki Seok So about The Geeks’ reputation, the hardcore scene in Korea, and cultural differences playing into the same international scene.
