Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch is “feeling fine” after cancer battle, talks album release

Beastie Boys‘ Adam Yauch is “feeling fine” after his recent battle with cancer. The musician was diagnosed with the disease in July and had a cancerous tumour removed from his left parotid gland removed shortly thereafter. The surgery and recovery necessitated the indefinite delay of their forthcoming album, Hot Sauce Commitee. The record would be their first non-instrumental album since To The 5 Boroughs in 2004.

Yauch revealed that he is “feeling fine” and that the band are currently working on an upcoming tour, and he gave an update on the release date for the record, saying:

We’re just in the process of figuring that out now. The record was pretty much set for release this past September, but we had to postpone it, because of health issues. [Touring again] is definitely something we’re discussing and trying to figure out if that makes sense. Believe me, it would be fun if it does come together.

Scott Kannberg (Pavement) talks new material

Pavement In a recent interview with NME, Scott Kannberg of Pavement talked about the possibility of the band writing new material after their reunion tour, which kicks off in New Zealand this March:

“If it’s enjoyable for us, I think it is inevitable that we’ll make some more music,” … “I hope so because I think it will be fun. If I was a fan of the band I’d want to hear some new music, but we’re just going to see how it goes.”

Kannberg also revealed that the band has yet to properly rehearse, but he’s excited about the upcoming gigs:

“We haven’t started rehearsing yet, so I think once we start doing it, some songs will sound better than others. We’re doing some pretty fun shows though. It’s not going to be like a regular tour.”
