Lars Frederiksen of Rancid gives away skateboards to youth

Lars Frederiksen is the subject of a new San Francisco Chronicle piece looking at his recent charity efforts through the 10th and Mission Family Housing Apartments. The article explains that the Rancid member has been giving out free skateboards to teenagers after striking up a friendship with San Francisco’s homeless policy director, Dariush Kayhan, who invited him to attend Project Homeless Connect this month. The article spoke to Lars who said this:

It was emotional. But I was thinking that when people donate toys, it is always the teenagers that get left out. That’s when I got Tony Hawk on the phone. ou never forget where you came from. I remember eating Raisin Bran for Christmas dinner. But some of these kids have it a lot worse than I ever did.

Graves-era Misfits to open for Danzig

The American Psycho lineup of the post-Danzig The Misfits will be reuniting (sans Jerry Only) to open for Danzig on December 26th. The group will feature vocalist Michale Graves, guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein and drummer Dr. Chud. Bassist Jerry Only will be replaced by Argyle Goolsby of Blitzkid/​Georgeous Frankenstein.

Also performing that night will be Danzig’s side project, Seventh Void, which also features Samhain/Son Of Sam guitarist, Steve Zing. All the details (and tickets) can be found via the venue website.
