A Wilhelm Scream A Wilhelm Scream recently stopped by Canadian cable program Talk Show Night at Juicebox Manor to perform a couple of tracks in the basement. The band played “Me vs. Morrissey in the Pretentiousness Contest (The Ladder Match)” from 2005’s Ruiner and “Skid Rock” from 2009’s eponymous EP.

Nada Surf announce covers album, tour

Nada Surf Nada Surf have announced a new covers album, the palindromic if i had a hi-fi. On it, the long-running band will be offering their take on songs from The Moodly Blues, Depeche Mode, Kate Bush, The Soft Pack and others. The album will first be available on the band’s upcoming tour, which kicks off on March 25 with three ‘album shows’ in New York City – which will see the band perform their three most recent full-lengths (2008’s Lucky, 2005’s The Weight Is A Gift and 2003’s Let Go) on three separate nights, along with other selections from the band’s catalogue.

Madball, Blacklisted, Maximum Penalty, Rise and Fall at United Blood

Blacklisted The folks behind United Blood Fest have announced some initial details about this year’s incarnation of the festival. Now in its fourth year, United Blood Fest will be happening March 26 and 27 at Alley Katz in Richmond, VA. Thus far, bands confirmed to appear include Blacklisted, Madball, Cruel Hand, Rise and Fall, Maximum Penalty and others.

Flogging Molly detail live DVD / CD set

Flogging Molly Flogging Molly is gearing up to release their Live At The Greek Theatre concert DVD and double CD set on March 2nd. The show was recorded on September 12th, 2009 in Los Angeles, CA with eight high definition cameras (including a jib crane). The resulting film from director Kevin Cluster runs 90 minutes, with audio mixed by Ryan Hewitt (co-producer of Float). The set will include interviews and backstage footage as bonus features and will be packaged with a booklet of photos from the night.

Aloha: “Moonless March”

AlohaAloha has posted the song “Moonless March” on Stereogum from their upcoming album, Home Acres, due out March 9, 2010 on Polyvinyl Records. Singer/guitarist Anthony Cavallario had this to say about the song:

I imagine the “Moonless March” as these people who are going around rebuilding some sort of wrecked world, getting their hands dirty, one place at a time. But it could be any task or mission. It’s also supposed to be March (the month), the bleakest, most challenging month of the year as far as I’m concerned, waiting for the cold to break and the sun to come out for good.
