Equal Vision signs Places & Numbers (ex-Gatsby’s American Dream)

Using his connections with an airline, Darling was able to send himself, producer/friend Casey Bates (Gatsby’s American Dream, Portugal. The Man), his brother Billy, and videographer Jay Schwandt to Italy. The group traveled to Venice, Verona, Bellagio, Cinque Terre, Chianti, Rome and Lake Como, recording and filming along the way
The finished product is the forthcoming Waking The Dead EP, to be released next month via Bandcamp’s “pay what you want” model, and documentary-style videos to accompany the release of the full-length album, Travels, later this year. The sound, while reminiscent of the Postal Service, pulls musical influences from acts like Talking Heads, the Strokes, Death Cab For Cutie and Kanye West..

Pete Doherty fined for bringing forgotten heroin to court
Continuing his nearly unbroken streak of controversial behaviour, former Libertines frontman Pete Doherty was fined Wednesday for walking into a court last month with heroin in his pocket. Pete had been summoned to the court to be fined for careless driving, but as he was being escorted from the premises, security guards saw heroin fall from his pocket. The portion was worth nearly 200 pounds, but his lawyer commented saying:
He has a great many items of clothing — suits and clothes going into the hundreds, There were residual drugs which he had left in one coat pocket. He didn’t necessarily choose the coat for himself. He is a recovering heroin addict and has received some very sophisticated medical treatment. He had been an addict for some years and is a very well known, famous musician with a huge international reputation.
