YOU help raise over 7,500 dollars for earthquake relief in Haiti, more auctions tonight!
Last night the first round of our auction to benefit the survivors of the Haiti Earthquake ended. Thanks to some generous donations from Fueled By Ramen, Suburban Home, Vinnie F, and many more we managed to raise an astonishing $7,775.30. Much love to our friend Pete Wentz for spreading the news and bidding on items himself. Additional love to Hayley Williams of Paramore and anyone else who took the time on Twitter to retweet what we were doing, post a note in a forum or tell someone online. Congratulations to all the winners and all the bidders. We’ve got another astounding list of stuff tonight including a one of a kind item from The Gaslight Anthem, a poster signed by Against Me!, some test pressings from Mike Park, O Pioneers!!!, Poison The Well, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Less Than Jake, Assholeparade, Hot Water Music, Smoking Popes, The Falcon, Teenage Bottlerocket, Champion, AMEBIX, Jello Biafra, Small Brown Bike and more. There’s also posters, rare vinyl and more. So check back around 10pm EST or so at LimitedPressing to see all the items.
To step out of character – I’d just like to say thank you to anyone who bid, won, retweeted, donated an item or in any way contributed to making this auction a success. I was watching more footage from Haiti today and absolutely cannot believe the level of devastation and the impact it’s had on the island. We can’t bring back what was lost but we can make the future a little brighter. Thanks all, especially Vinnie F and Paper And Plastick, Tom and Nick at LimitedPressing and Joshua at Vinyl Vlog.
Check back at 10pm EST and we’ve got some other ways to donate on their way as well!

Smoke or Fire announce “Prehistoric Knife Fight” 7-inch
Smoke Or Fire have announced an upcoming 7″ titled Prehistoric Knife Fight. The band’s guitarist, Jeremy Cochran explains:
“So, on January 13th we headed into Sound of Music studios in Richmond, VA with our friend and engineer Casey Martin, to record two songs for our upcoming 7”. The record will be titled “Prehistoric Knife Fight” and will be released again by our dear friends at Fat Wreck Chords. The plan is to hopefully have it ready for Harvest of Hope Festival which we’ll be playing in mid March. It’s been a while since we’ve released anything and we’re all really stoked to finally get something out. Sometime this spring we’ll be finishing up the full length. The songs are called “Speak Easy” and “Modesty”, A and B side in that order. None of this would have been possible without our friends in Landmines who lent us gear, a practice space, an engineer, and a drummer. Thanks guys!! Hope ya’ll like it as much as we do. See you out there.”
The band’s last release was 2007’s This Sinking Ship.
Smoke or Fire will be performing at this year’s Harvest of Hope Festival on March 13th, and Prehistoric Knife Fight will be released on March 16th.

Brand New mull future, release methods
In an interview with Rock Sound, Brand New drummer Brian Lane spoke about the band’s future and possible subsequent release methods for new material:
“We’re working it out, there is a lot of talk about it at the moment about what we do in future with regards to putting out records and whether we stay on our label and we’re in limbo right now trying to work it all out. We’re talking about recording another album but we don’t know whether it’s going to come out on a label or whether we just release songs in batches. Everything is up in the air at the moment but we’re not just going to be slacking and hanging out, we will start working pretty soon. … ” I don’t know if there’s a point to releasing records if they’re not physical releases, if we ‘e going to release a lot of things digitally then I don’t see why we couldn’t release a song a week or a song a month or just put out what we like from whenever we record. I think that might work out but we’ll see what happens.”
Check out the full interview here. The band released Daisy in 2009.
