The Gaslight Anthem title new record ‘American Slang’
In an interview with Express Night Out, Brian Fallon of the Gaslight Anthem revealed that the title of the band’s upcoming full length will be American Slang. The frontman of the popular New Jersey-based group explained what fans can expect from the record:
There are no names and none of the old stuff. I feel like I’ve said a lot of what I had to say about that old stuff. I’m moving on. … [‘American Slang’] is a hyper-literal album. These stories are coming out of my life and the reflections on the things I’ve gotten as I’ve gotten older. It’s more autobiographical, definitely more direct. Not so shrouded in mystery. I’m not trying to confuse anyone with a trail of images on this one.
The album, which follows up 2008’s The ’59 Sound, is set for a June 15th release.

According to author and veteran punk drummer Joel Gausten (PIGFACE, ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN, THE UNDEAD), Brian “Damage” Keats, who drummed in the final incarnation of the Glenn Danzig-fronted MISFITS (circa 1983), died on January 12 following a battle with liver cancer.

Cancer Bats new LP arrives April 13th, ‘Sabotage’ EP in March
Distort has released further details on the upcoming full length from Toronto-based hardcore / metal act Cancer Bats. The band’s new record Bears, Mayors, Scraps And Bones will be available in Canada on April 13th. A video for the first single is set to be released at the end of this month. A two song EP titled Sabotage will arrive on March 2nd as well, featuring the songs “Sabotage” and “Dead Wrong.”
Vocalist Liam Cormier told Rock Sound late last year that the record was going to sound like “Glenn Danzig going on a camping trip with Black Flag’s Greg Ginn, a reanimated Vincent Price and the Beastie Boys.” With a single titled “Sabotage” (could it be a cover?) and the label’s possible Check Your Head nod in their news posting (“we can’t tell you just yet, whatcha’ want from us?”) the clues are pointing to some serious Beastie Boys love on this album.
Cancer Bats last released Hail Destroyer in 2008. They’ll tour North America in March with Against Me!, Alexisonfire and Billy Talent.
