Billy Bragg to act and sing in new theatre production

Billy Bragg Legendary punk/folk musician Billy Bragg is reportedly gearing up to star in a new theatre production set to open this Spring. According to a story from the BBC, the musician has also written the songs for the project, which is billed as “part play, part gig, part art installation.” It was written by Mick Gordon, examines British identity and will be staged at London’s Wellcome Collection.

The Weakerthans announce live DVD

The Weakerthans will be releasing a new DVD, Live at the Burton Cummings Theater, on March 23, 2010. The live DVD was recorded in April of 2009 as the band toured in support of their acclaimed album Reunion Tour with an expanded line-up featuring trumpet, violin and female vocals, playing songs from all four of their albums in front of a =hometown crowd. The artwork is a painting by bassist Greg Smith, one of several pieces inspired while on the April tour. The release will feature a CD of the performance as well as the DVD.
