Born Ruffians to release “Say It” in June
Toronto trio Born Ruffians will release their sophomore full length Say It on June 1st via Paper Bag Records. The album follows up 2008’s acclaimed debut Red Yellow and Blue. Rusty Santos, producer of that record, returned to work with the band on the follow up, which was recorded at Mississauga’s Metalworks studio.
The label has made the song “Sole Brother” available for download.

Australian punks Eddy Current Supression Ring have announced some details regarding their upcoming full-length. Rush to Relax is slated for a domestic release through Goner Records on March 16, 2010. Once out, it’ll follow up 2008’s Primary Colours.
The band also has an American tour booked for this summer.

Green Day honoured in “Character Approved” awards
Green Day are among the honourees for the USA Network‘s “Character Approved” awards. The press release tries to explain the award:
The initiative is dedicated to celebrating the true trailblazers across a variety of disciplines such as art, philanthropy, new media and film. The 2010 honorees are innovators in their field who are influencing our opinions, our style, and our view of the world. They’re celebrated by their peers and their fresh, authentic ideas both surprise and inspire us.
A celebratory cocktail reception honoring the ten honorees will be held in New York City on Feb. 25th. The event will feature the cast of Green Day’s American Idiot musical in their first New York City live performance prior to their Broadway debut. The honorees will be featured in webisodes that provide an inside look at the lives, the works and influences of these characters. New trailer for the Runaways
A plot oriented TV spot/trailer for the upcoming film about pioneering female punks, The Runaways, has been posted. The film stars Twilight star Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Runaways vocalist Cherie Currie. The film itself will feature The Living Things filling in for the Ramones as well.
