The Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly headed to Rock Band Network

Side One Dummy Records has announced that music from Flogging Molly and Gaslight Anthem will soon be available via the Rock Band Network. As we reported last summer, the music will be part of a new Rock Band feature that allows independent labels like SideOneDummy to assemble their own music for sale and play in the popular rhythm game, Rock Band 2.

The label says that Gaslight’s first 2 singles “The ’59 Sound” and “Old White Lincoln” from The ’59 Sound will be released in March. They have not yet confirmed which Flogging Molly tracks are set to appear, but they are expected to surface “just in time for St. Patty’s Day.”

Jesse Malin debuts new band, the St. Marks Social

Jesse Malin, formerly of hardcore trio Heart Attack and glam punks D Generation (and a lengthy solo career), has unveiled his new band and album. The St. Marks Social will be releasing their debut via SideOneDummy Records. The record is titled Love It To Life and is due out April 27, 2010. The label had this to say about the band:

Over the summer of 2009, in the basement of Avenue A watering hole Hi-Fi, the songs came forth. Malin, with impresario Don DiLego, drummer Randy Schrager, guitarist Matt Hogan, and bassist/DJ Tommy USA, worked with his newly formed band to bash out an album s worth of gritty anthems, and The St. Marks Social was born. A solid band, but one with an open door to Malin s community of musician friends – longtime partner in crime Ryan Adams, pop singer Mandy Moore, fellow label mate Brian Fallon, and former bandmates from D Generation Howie Pyro and Danny Sage – the Social is a group effort to keep the P.M.A. Says Malin, To me, rock n roll is an exorcism that begins every night when the sun goes down, the music starts playing, and the spirits start flowing. It helps to say things in public over dirty microphones. It s a way to spit out the poison.

The band have also announced a month long residency at the Bowery Electric in New York City. More details can be found here.
