Broken Social Scene title new record, release song

Broken Social Scene The new record from Toronto indie rock collective Broken Social Scene has been titled Forgiveness Rock Record and will be available on May 4th via the band’s Arts and Crafts label. The first song available from the album, “World Sick,” is available as a free download from the band’s website. UPDATE: Link fixed.

As previously reported the core group on the record will include Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Justin Peroff, Andrew Whiteman (also of Apostle of Hustle), Charles Spearin, Sam Goldberg, and Reverie Sound Revue vocalist Lisa Lobsinger. Guests include frequent collaborators and past members along with some new faces. That last includes Feist, Stars‘ Amy Millan and Evan Cranley, and Metric‘s Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw, Jason Collett, Do Make Say Think’s Ohad Benchetrit, John Crossingham, Marty Kinack, Julie Penner, Leon Kingstone, Sea and Cake’s Sam Prekop, Pavement‘s Spiral Stairs, Death From Above 1979‘s Sebastien Grainger, Poi Dog Pondering’s Susan Voelz, Helen Money’s Alison Chesley and The Weakerthans‘ Jason Tait. The album was produced by John McEntire of Tortoise and Doug McCombs.

Against Me!, TSOL, Adolescents and more added to Punk Rock Bowling

BYO Records has added a number of bands to the upcoming 12th annual Punk Rock Bowling tournament in Las Vegas. The list of performing bands has been expanded to include Against Me!, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, T.S.O.L., Adolescents, Filthy Thieving Bastards and Stretch Marks. They join previously announced groups like Flogging Molly, NOFX, Fucked Up, Swingin’ Utters, the Revival Tour, Youth Brigade, Cobra Skulls, Teenage Bottlerocket, Tony Sly, and Old Man Markley.

Punk Rock Bowling takes place this year at the Sunset Station Hotel and Casino from May 6th through the 9th. For the first time ever the music festival will be open to the general public.

Sasquatch, the annual independent music festival that takes place at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington, has announced their 2010 line up.
