BYO Records announces 12th Annual Punk Rock Bowling Tournament

BYO Records has announced details for their 12th Annual Punk Rock Bowling Tournament. As usual, it will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The dates this year are May 6th – 10th. Bands announced to play thus far are Flogging Molly, NOFX, Fucked Up, Swingin’ Utters, the Revival Tour, Youth Brigade, Cobra Skulls, Teenage Bottlerocket, Tony Sly, and Old Man Markley.

Made up of industry insiders (bands, agents, managers, fanzines, radio stations, labels, punk rock clothing and merchandise companies),the event will be – for the first time in the 12 year history – open to the general public.

Moneybrother Announces US Release of “Real Control”

Moneybrother has announced the April release of his US debut LP, “Real Control.” The album will be released via Bladen County Records on CD/Digital and Sabot Productions on Vinyl. The US version of the album includes re-recorded versions of tracks off of the Swedish version of “Real Control” and “Mount Pleasure.” The Swedish version of “Real Control” topped Tom from Against Me!’s 2009 Best Of List and 2006’s introduction EP on Sabot saw some kind words from a Punknews writer. The first single off of “Real Control,” “Born Under A Bad Sign” is available for download here.

Moneybrother will be playing 2 special solo performances opening for Rhett Miller at the City Winery in New York City on March 20th.

Flogging Molly: “Punch Drunk Grinning Soul (PSA Version)”

Flogging Molly have posted a PSA version of “Punch Drunk Grinning Soul.” The song was originally penned as an allegorical biography about a young man who unexpectedly committed suicide, the video takes the theme one step further and applies it to a malady faced by millions of people the world over post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.

The video begins with a public service announcement for PTSD narrated by singer Dave King and Mike Regan, a distinguished Vietnam war veteran and the father of the band’s fiddle player Bridget Regan . According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 7.7 million American adults suffer from PTSD, a psychiatric disorder that can occur following exposure to life-threatening events such as military combat, serious accidents, or violent personal assaults like rape. People who suffer from PTSD often relive the experience through nightmares and flashbacks and detach or estrange themselves from friends and family.
