Members of New York Dolls, Dead Boys form Batusis

Smog Veil has announced the debut recording from Batusis. The band features Sylvain Sylvain of New York Dolls and Cheetah Chrome of Dead Boys and Rocket From The Tombs. The band will make their live debut concert performance at SXSW, in Austin, Texas on March 18.

The self-titled 4-song EP will be released in the US and UK on May 4, 2010. The debut recordings will be released on collectable multi-colored vinyl, with eco-friendly recycled content jacket and full color two-sided insert, and also on digital download. The rhythm sections is borrowed from Joan Jett’s backing band, featuring Enzo Penizzotto (bass) and Thommy Price (drums). The sound is described as “as a garage-glam dance party or a Harley-revving, speaker-melting guitar throwdown.

The Banner, Ambitions, Bracewar, Iron Chic, Agent at Long Island Fest

The BannerLong Island Fest 2010 has been announced. The three-day festival will take place June 10-12 and feature the Banner, playing their last New York show, as well as a reunion set from Ambitions. LIHC acts Subterfuge and Motive are also set to play reunion sets. Rounding out the lineup will be Bracewar, Iron Chic, Agent, Hostage Calm, My Heart to Joy, Make Do and Mend, Maximum Penalty, Cipher, Balance and Composure, Naysayer, Incendiary, Backtrack, Thieves and Assassins, Scourge, Suburban Scum, and Fire and Ice.

“One more big reunion” announcement will be made in the coming weeks.

Statues supporting ‘Holiday Cops’ with Smalltown, Vicious Cycle tours

Statues Sudbury, Ontario’s Statues are gearing up to release their new record Holiday Cops via Deranged Records in North America and P. Trash Records in Europe. Four songs from the effort can be streamed at the band’s MySpace page.

To support Holiday Cops Statues will embark on a four week, 30 date tour of Europe. The first leg will feature Sweden’s Smalltown, while the second will feature another Sudbury band, Vicious Cycle.
