Tegan and Sara, Metric, Billy Talent, Arkells highlight Juno nominations

Nominations for this year’s Junos have been announced. Notable among them are Billy Talent racking up four nominations (Album of the Year, Group of the Year, Rock Album of the Year, Single of the Year), Tegan And Sara and Alexonfire receiving nods for Alternative Album of the Year and Rock Album of the Year, respectively, Dine Alone Records artist Arkells being nominated for New Group of the Year, and Emily Haines and James Shaw of Metric receiving nods for Songwriter of the Year, in addition to the band being nominated for Group of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year.

Check out the full list of nominees here. This year’s ceremony will be happening on April 18 at the Mile One Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

NIGHTWISH Manager Says Singer’s Surprise Pregnancy Won’t Affect Band’s Recording Plans

NIGHTWISH manager Ewo Pohjola of King Foo Entertainment Ltd tells Finland’s MTV3 that singer Anette Olzon’s surprise revelation that she is expecting her second child will not affect the band’s plan to begin recording its new studio album this fall.

SAVATAGE’s ‘Gutter Ballet’ Being Re-Recorded In Its Original Broadway Format

Producer/composer Paul O’Neill, who co-founded TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA with SAVATAGE mastermind Jon Oliva, told Billboard.com that he and company are currently re-recording “Gutter Ballet” (also the name of the second record O’Neill did with SAVATAGE) “in its original Broadway format,” though there’s no firm timetable on when it might go into full production.
