6131 signs Such Gold

Such Gold Such Gold have signed to 6131 Records. The Rochester, NY-based band will release their sophomore effort through the label. The band will be entering the studio in March with Greg Altman (Four Year Strong, A Loss For Words), with more details on their new EP coming soon.

Such Gold will be touring across Canada from March 24th through April 3rd with Rust Belt Lights (ex-Daggermouth), followed by a U.S. tour with The Wonder Years and We Are The Union from April 7th through May 2nd.

Temporary Residence signs Coliseum

Coliseum Temporary Residence will be releasing the new LP from Louisville, KY’s Coliseum this summer. The album was produced by the band and mixed by J Robbins, and will feature guest appearances from Nick Thieneman and Jeremy McMonigle of Young Widows, Will Oldham (AKA Bonnie “Prince” Billy) and many others. More information regarding the album, as well as tour dates to support it, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The band last released No Salvation in 2007 via Relapse Records.

Gorillaz: “Plastic Beach”

A full album stream and new video have been posted for the critically acclaimed Gorillaz project. The band is a project of Damon Albarn (Blur, The Good, the Bad and the Queen) and the record features high profile guests including Lou Reed, Mark E. Smith of The Fall, Mos Def, Snoop Dogg and many others. Of particular note is that Albarn has enlisted Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash for their first recorded performance together in many years. Albarn and Simonon previously collaborated on The Good, the Bad and the Queen.

The full album can be streamed via NPR. The track with Mick Jones and Paul Simonon is “Plastic Beach.”

The first video for “Stylo” features the Gorillaz members in a high speed desert chase with Bruce Willis chasing them. Check out the video via YouTube.

Chad Cleveland leaves Cobra Skulls

Drummer Chad Cleveland has amicably parted ways with Cobra Skulls, releasing this statement via the band’s MySpace page:

“My sincerest thanks to everyone who supported us in anyway. Being in CS has been the best experience of my life. I met more amazing, thoughtful people and friends, than I ever imagined. My biggest thanks and wishes go to the two that make it all happen, Devin and Adam, best times ever. Life’s a garden, dig it.”

The band has recruited Luke Ray to replace Cleveland for their upcoming tour dates; Ray notably spent time hitting the skins in Nothington and Only Crime.

Stooges, MC5, Sex Pistols on Runaways soundtrack

MC5 The track listing has been posted for the upcoming soundtrack to the film about pioneering female punks, The Runaways. Along with re-recorded Runaways tracks performed by stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, the soundtrack will feature classics from The Stooges, Sex Pistols, MC5, The Runaways, David Bowie and more. The film itself will feature The Living Things filling in for the Ramones though no Ramones songs appear on the soundtrack.

The CD/digital release is due out March 23, 2010.

The Menzingers detail their sophomore LP and preceding EP

The MenzingersToday we’re stoked to have the exclusive first look at the cover art and tracklisting for The Menzingers‘ sophomore LP and preceding single. The record is titled Chamberlain Waits and is due out April 13, 2010. It will be preceded by a digital single of the song “I Was Born” backed by two acoustic tracks on March 16, 2010. Chamberlain Waits follows up Hold on Dodge, the band’s critically acclaimed EP on Red Scare and their debut LP A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology, which came out on Go-Kart records. They recorded the album with Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms) at Atlas Studio in Chicago.
