Paul Westerberg writes about Alex Chilton

The ReplacementsPaul Westerberg recently penned an article about the tragic death of noted musician Alex Chilton last week. Westerberg, who wrote a song about Chilton while in the Replacements, wrote this:

HOW does one react to the death of one’s mentor? The great Alex Chilton is gone – folk troubadour, blues shouter, master singer, songwriter and guitarist. Someone should write a tune about him. Then again, nah, that would be impossible. Or just plain stupid.

Cokie the Clown performance gets weird

Fat Mike of NOFX and Fat Wreck Chords recently performed solo as Cokie the Clown at Emo’s in Austin, TX during SXSW. In what can be described as a strange, emotional, and intimate night with the singer, Fat Mike played a few songs acoustically and shared some really disturbing and depressing stories from his personal life, all while dressed in clown regalia linked to the band’s latest EP, Cokie the Clown.

The night included a song called “Drinking Pee,” and finished with, well, let’s just say that Pinpoint Music has a full rundown and that you might have to just read it yourself. There is also supposedly a video of the performance that has been uploaded to be downloaded, taken from the Vinyl Collective message boards, however it has not yet been tested by Punknews editorial staff, and you can download it here at your own risk.
