Silverstein has announced that they will soon be releasing a new live CD+DVD documenting their recent catalog showcases at Toronto’s El Mocambo club this past March. 2003’s When Broken is Easily Fixed, 2005’s Discovering The Waterfront, 2007’s Arrivals & Departures, and 2009’s A Shipwreck In The Sand were each performed on separate nights.

The record is titled Decade (Live At El Macambo) and is due out June 8, 2010.

In a new interview with ThePunkSite.com, Tom DeLonge and David Kennedy of Angels and Airwaves discussed their plans regarding their upcoming William Eubank directed film – Love. They are aiming for a theatrical release of the film but will have more details once they put complete the film this July. They did explain their thoughts on the film saying:

I can tell you, honestly, the movie is ten times better than I thought it would be. But it’s not meant to compete with Transformers. This is an art-house film and no band has really done this in a very long time. So we’re hoping that we catch some people off guard and we’re also hoping that we do something that is very credible as far its artistic acumen goes.

DeLonge also explained the reasoning behind using LOVE as the soundtrack rather than the originally planned I-Empire album:

Well, what happened was we set up these ideas about what we wanted to do for the film. We hired the director, we set up a big kind of overall reaching message and tonality and parameters for what the film would be. Then we shoved the director off on his maiden voyage and he goes out. Well he comes back two years later and we’re all thinking it’s going to be finished, we’re gonna wrap it up, we’ll let it come out with this record; and when we saw it, it just blew us away. We couldn’t believe what he did. But we also knew that it wasn’t finished yet – it needed more.

So we made a decision to clip the idea of it coming out that year and really re-invest in it and take a big swing at the fences – forgive the baseball term for people that might read this in different countries – and try to have it come out with a free record. This will be our big moment to have a hundred percent independent release. Not only with the film and the music and album or whatever, just a very DIY – do it yourself. And show what could happen if you work your ass off.

It was directed by Thomas Colella and promises “a conceptual piece in the same vein as Peter Gabriel’s 1986 “Sledgehammer” complete with animation and never-before-seen visual effects”

A stream has been launched of another new song from Stephen Egerton‘s upcoming debut solo release. The record is titled The Seven Degrees of Stephen Egerton and is due out May 11, 2010 via Paper and Plastick. The song is titled “South for the Winter” and features Rise Against vocalist Tim McIlrath who co-wrote the vocal melody and lyrics for the track.

I came up with the music first, then recorded it and sent it to Tim. He came up with the lyrics and melody. When I write music, I usually start with a guitar or bass riff, or a vocal melody and go from there. On this record I had written vocal melodies for most of the songs, but let the singers do their own or change them if they wanted to. Tim wanted to do his own melody on this song, which was fine with me. I love what he came up with.
