Today, we’re excited to bring you a stream of Addict Rhythms, the new full-length from Baltimore, MD’s Dead Mechanical. The album was released earlier this month by Traffic Street Records.
The Flaming Lips have posted the video for “The Sparrow Looks Up at the Machine.” The band promises that the video “contains some disturbing images which may not be suitable for children or sensitive adults.” At the very least, you should take this to mean that this is not a video you want to watch at work.
Chamberlain have released a new 7-inch to coincide with their upcoming run supporting Gaslight Anthem. The release features two brand new recordings. One of them, “Raise It High,” is a new song. The other, “The South Has Spoiled Me,” is a reinterpretation featuring guest vocals by Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem. The 7-inch is only available at shows. A wider digital release is scheduled for 7/6, but the band has made the tracks available now for purchase via their Bandcamp page.
Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, Jello Biafra’s first full time band since the Dead Kennedys have announced the bulk of their summer schedule. Along with spending most of June hitting Festivals in Europe, the band will open for Tool in California, and visit Quebec and Nova Scotia. They released their debut, The Audacity of Hype, last year.
A stream has been launched for This Comp Kills Fascists, Volume 2. The Relapse Records distributed compilation features underground grindcore, hardcore and punk and was curated by producer Scott Hull Pig Destroyer. The album features new and exclusive material from Despise You, Lack of Interest, Crom, Apartment 213 and other contributions from Noiseear, Owen Heart, Exortion and more.
Brendan Kelly of Lawrence Arms and Tobias Jeg of Red Scare had a chat with Tom Delonge of Angels and Airwaves and Blink 182 on the latest episode of JBTV. Starting about 6:06 minutes into the episode, Toby and Brendan grill Delonge on spirituality, empiricism and Toby’s obsession with a pigeon which actually segued into a detailed answer which proves that Tom is smarter than Toby.
On the eve of his opening for Green Day at Wembley last night, Frank Turner visited The Sun to perform the Queen classic, “I Want to Break Free.” The song and band had a special significance to Turner who mentioned it when the show with Green Day was first announced:
The [Tribute to Freddie Mercury] was a major musical milestone in my life. My older sister made me watch it with her, and we taped the whole thing over a number of VHS cassettes (swapping them over as fast as possible so as not to miss anything). I was 10 years old, I’d just started finding out about music, but seeing Metallica, Guns n Roses, Spinal Tap (!) and a host of others playing Queen tunes was a major eye-opener for me. We watched those tapes till they broke.
Four Year Strong have posted the video for “It Must Suck to Be Four Year Strong Right Now.” The band filmed the video for the single in London’s East End earlier this month. The band is also gearing up for the release of a “deluxe” version of their 2010 album, Enemy of the World. As we reported earlier, the reissue is due out June 25, 2010 (June 22 on iTunes) and will feature a new studio track, “Bad News Bearz” and acoustic versions of four songs: “Tonight We Feel Alive (On A Saturday),” “One Step At A Time,” “Find My Way Back” and “Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)”
Black Lips have released a new single as part of the Adult Swim Singles Program. The band contributed the song, “Before You Judge Me,” to the weekly series which also featured Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, and others. If you like it, I think you have to buy a Kia or something.
