Look Mexico formally announces new drummer, tour dates

Though Joshua Mikel departed all the way back in February, Look Mexico have recently announced Alex Gooding as Mikel’s replacement and the band’s new, permanent drummer. They had this to say about their new member:

“When Josh left in February before our release-tour for ‘To Bed To Battle,’ (Ryan) Smith and (Ryan) Slate’s longtime friend Alex Gooding came in like the cavalry and saved our collective ass. He dropped everything and learned all of the songs in three days. We quickly realized that he was the man for the job. His lifelong study of music combines with his rock steady rhythm to create a palette of stylistic possibilities that we’ve never had until now. We are very excited about his addition to the band.”

The band is currently on tour in support of their recent full-length, To Bed To Battle.

Album sales hit rock bottom

In a new Billboard article, the magazine notes that record sales for the week ending May 30 were the lowest since data began being collected in 1994. For comparison, the peak one-weak number was 45.4 million albums in late December, 2000. The week of May 30th, 2010, less than 5 million records were sold.

This led music executives to blame piracy, with Universal Music Group Distribution president Jim Urie remarking:

All the more reason why everyone in the industry should be focused on getting the U.S. Congress to introduce legislation that makes the Internet service providers our allies in fighting piracy. Piracy is getting worse and worse and the government needs to focus on that.
