Hurley is slated for a September 14, 2010 release via Epitaph Records, the band’s first for the label after seven albums and seventeen years as part of the major label hit machine. We recently told you about some rumors that the group was planning a Pinkerton-centric tour to coincide with the release of that album’s deluxe edition on October 5, 2010.

RVIVR completes new EP, announces tour dates

Olympia, WA’s RVIVR have completed work on their recently announced EP that will follow up their beloved self-titled full-length. The five-song set will be released by Germany’s Yo-Yo Records in conjunction with the band’s upcoming European tour, slated to happen in September and October. Specific dates are expected to be announced soon.

Prior to that, however, the group will embark on a quick tour of the west coast in early September.

Tim Kasher: “Cold Love”

Tim Kasher of Cursive and The Good Life has posted the first song from his upcoming solo album. The record is titled The Game of Monogamy and is due out October 5, 2010 via Saddle Creek. The album was recorded this past January in Whitefish, MT, at SnowGhost Music and in his rental home in the small town. Kasher enlisted Patrick Newbery (trumpet/keys for Cursive; also of Lacona and Head of Femur) to help with the arrangements, the production, and to play on the record. Friends Erin Tate (Minus The Bear) and Matt Maginn (Cursive) also stopped by to add some drum and bass parts, respectively, and members of the Glacier National Symphony were recruited for the classical instrument parts.

The Motorcycle Industry post final EP for free download

The Motorcycle IndustryRecently defunct Brooklyn pop-punk/etc. act the Motorcycle Industry have posted their final EP, The Motorcycle Industry Reigns, on their bandcamp page. The download is available for free or, at the listener’s discretion, a donation.

The band played their final show in July after releasing one full-length, 2008’s Electric Education, and a recent 7″, The Only Friends Worth Having.

Akimbo to release ‘Jersey Shores’ on vinyl, head to Japan

To coincide with the band’s impending Japanese tour, Red Cobalt Industries has announced a vinyl release for Akimbo‘s 2008 full-length, Jersey Shores. The slab ‘o wax is slated for an October 12, 2010 release, primed with new artwork from artist Nat Damm, who’s previously done work for groups such as Melvins, Isis, Botch, Converge and Dillinger Escape Plan, among others.
